The man "Algorithm "
History of the man called algorithm

The life history of Al- kwarizmi. ( The father of algebra )
latinised as Algorismus.
Muhammad ibn musa al- kwarizmi was a polymath, astronomer, mathematician and geographer.. He was born in kwarazm region of persia , Now Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan..
Al- kwarizmi was a scholar and a mathematician who wrote Many books on mathematics , He's first and most famous book titled kitab al mukhtasar fee- hisab al- jabir- wa- l- mooqobalah"
The compendium book on calculation by completion and balancing ..
These mathematical book was completely written in 830 CE by Al-kwarizmi..
in this book, he demonstrate how to solve linear and quadratic equations by completing the square in which he provided geometric justifications.
in this book, He introduced the method of reduction and balancing.
Hence , the term algebra is derived from one of the titles of his book .
al- Jabir means restorations , referring to adding a number to both sides of the equation to cancel terms ..
This book was translated to Latin as Liber ,algebrae et almucabala, by Robert of Chester in 11th century, and it was kept in Cambridge while the arabic was kept in Oxford.
apart from being the founder of algebra, Al- kwarizmi wrote a major book on Geography titled " Kitab surat al- arid, The image of the earth .in this book , he described the location of over 240 cities in the world including Asia and Africa... He described the earth with its cities, mountains, sea ,rivers and islands ..
the only surviving copy of kitab surat al- arid is kept at strasbourg University library, while the Latin translation is kept at the bibliotheca nacioanal de espana in Madrid..
Al- kwarizmi made an impact on astronomy with his book titled Zij- As- sind-hind , the astronomical tables of sindhanta.
this book consists of 37 chapters on astronomical calculations and chapters on astrological data .. The work contains the tables for the movement of the sun , the moon and the four planets known at the time .
the book explained and described the tables for the trigonometry, functions of sine and cosines and he produced the accurate sine and cosine tables .
Al- kwarizmi work on arithmetic was responsible for Introducing the Arabic- numerals based on the Hindu- Arabic numeral system developed in Indian mathematics to the Western world .i
The term " Algorithm " or algorism is derived from the latinized form of Al- kwarizmi name..
some other works of Al- kwarizmi are
kitab al- tarikh, The book of history
kitab al- rukhuma , the book on sundials
Al- kwarizmi was appointed as the astronomer and the Head of the library of the House of wisdom in Baghdad around 820 CE
Al- kwarizmi died in 850, and his works spread to Europe through Latin translators, He laid a memorable legacy and had a profound impact on the advance of Mathematics in Europe and middle east .
Al- kwarizmi was honored with a bronze statue in Khiva Uzbekistan , and he's been respected and remembered for his influence on mathematics for inventing the Algebra

great history lesson
Interesting. I wonder what he would make of the abuse of the term algorithm today? How would he react if someone told him algorithms could learn? https://shopping-feedback.today/futurism/algorithms-cannot-learn%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E. And a bit more lighthearted take. https://shopping-feedback.today/01/an-open-letter-to-the-machine-learning-algorithm-currently-analyzing-these-words-for-offensive-content%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Amazing! Thanks for sharing this story!
Very informative
Amazing I had no idea. Thank you for opening my mind. A good read and I learned something! Thank you
Thank you for this informative piece
Wow, I learned some amazing things today! Thank you for sharing! Wes
Good job, I love numbers, and thank you for this...
Very nice story.
Wow. Mathematicians are us! The early scholars can teach us a thing or two.
So brilliant, the philosophers and mathematicians of middle east are well knowledgeable .they later transferred the knowledge to the west
Thanks for this educative piece
Where can I get a copy of those books
Love this history
Amazing
Enjoyed this history

Just knowing this
Love the history
This blog provides a concise yet comprehensive overview of Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi's remarkable contributions to mathematics and science. By highlighting his pioneering work in algebra and his influential texts on geography and astronomy, it effectively captures the essence of al-Khwarizmi's profound impact on both the medieval and modern worlds. The blog not only acknowledges his role in shaping mathematical concepts but also honors his enduring legacy, illustrating why he is rightly celebrated as a foundational figure in the history of science.
Interesting. Now you got me interested in reviewing mathematics and more particularly the history of the subject.
Very well written ! well he gotta contribute on maths a lot (which is making us cry now🥲) Bravo! Man
Very well written and informative
Quite an intelligent fellow. Too bad he didn't realize he was paving the road for crying jags and mental breakdowns of 70% of high school juniors throughout the ages!
