Serendipity! the holy grail of Creativity…..

I consider myself strategically well positioned(I don't like using the word fortunate in this context!) to receive the sound bytes delivered in the audiobook by Steven Johnson titled Where Good Ideas Come from- The Natural History of Innovation describe the root of this term ‘Serendipity’ as having originated in Horace Walpole’s letter/ novel where this term originated from the Persian fairy tale of Three Princesses of Serendip who were “Always making Discovery by Accidents, Things that they were not in quest of…..” Well, have I held the torch to the light?( in other words, needless to say) we have just described one of the most essential ingredient of Creativity! The Accidental connection that straightens up our bones to the realization that we have been just transformed in single moment of serendipitous lightening flash and creative life explodes with new possibilities and becomes beautiful again!

Let this term not be misrepresented as “Blind-Chance-Accident” It requires an individual capable of grasping when it happens and should be receptive enough to channel their Creative Potential into the direction of this new door that was just opened and record its existence and note its significance before the door closes for ever! Also, another interpretation of this term is Finding whatever we want turn up accidentally at the exact right moment which I feel intuitively in alignment with based on my own personal experiences which I was curious enough to note down in my Roam Research Notes with specificity of the exact time and date of occurrence and believe me it is a great read to refer back after few years of Serendipity consistently appearing in your life!

Serendipity 1:

At my work place I am asked by someone if I had certain images that were taken a few years back and were required for a presentation urgently(he had a two day window)…I inform the individual that I will look for the same but couldnt find these images immediately…..

Cut to next day morning, I am trying to find some images to use as reference for my experiments with portrait painting and guess what…the first folder out of the thousands my cursor could have clicked, contained the exact same images that I required to share for the presentation the day before……

Serendipity 2: Here, for the sake of authenticity, I am pasting exactly what I had written in my Roam Research note..

#Serendipity #Unbloodybelievable #Mindnunbing #09:21am#Timelog just finished daily dose of meditation and started with my #SoftPastel drawing of these set of rocks from #[[Google Earth]] with #RickRubin [[The creative act: A way of being]] pouring into my ears through #Audible [[To my shock and surprise, at the exact moment when I was working out in my head how the shading for a particular rock to be done, Rick goes on about nature and it’s inherent intelligence and nature having more shades than a Pantone shade book, every rock has shades….. unbelievable moment it felt chilling to my senses that Rick was actually speaking with me!]]![]

Lets cherish and start remaining open to receive,note and celebrate the instances of Serendipity as they select us as the Medium(pun intended!)
