Little Lady

She's Before Her Time

The Artist

This one is a special one; an artist that may come to shock you. For she is the one called “Little Lady” and she prays for everyone, including you. She has an old soul. She knows that she is beautiful inside and out. She knows this because God makes no mistakes, no matter how tall or stout. God didn’t create her perfect for them. He created her perfect for, him. It is her imperfections that make her perfect. From which she knows she could not defect. She has such a tender heart, and she wears it on her sleeve. So nurturing and also very caring. She’s before her time, at least that is what they say. For she is but a child, as she turns seven today. Her mother cleans in preparation of Little Lady’s birthday bash. And there it was, a note underneath her teddy bear Ash.

As her mother Sunny read the note, tears of both pride and sorrow began to form. Instantly, her heart went from feeling full to feeling torn. Nope. No. uh uh! Not my Baby! she thought. Little did she know what already has come that should have not. Little Lady wrote to her muse, in hopes that her words would be some aid. To help mend her heart, from all her pain. A thought, the empathy her daughter showed another, must weigh heavily on her shoulders. So strong at a young age, because she knows she is God’s little soldier. Another thought, what is going on with her muse, Lexi. Why does Lexi feel pain when she is blessed with more than plenty.

The Muse

Little Lady chose Lexi as her muse because she admires her. However, she wonders why is she always sad and hurt? Lexi’s beauty and all her treasures, yet she dares to frown. So many blessings, yet in her tears you would drown. What has happened to my poor sister, from another Mister. Then it hits her. Lexi isn’t mad. On the contrary, she’s so very sad. Her throne stolen by another. Always so proud of but resents her new baby brother. She feels as though, the love her parents and grandparents have for her has changed. She began to act out, to hide the pain.

She believed if she wears make up to school it would make her popular. Little Lady knew that is just to cover the scars. What hurts even more are the words that critique and compare. As if her best efforts, her trying was not even close to fair. She plays tag to give the boys an easy target to hit. Her thought, “ I wonder where they will tap when I am called it.” This way she didn't have to share, none of the attention or stares.

Back home, she's the best sister any one person could have ever asked for. Little Lady knew what was true behind Lexi's bedroom doors. The jealousy, the rage. The sadness, the pain. She knows herself to be the forgotten kid. Willing to risk it all for attention, to this anything Lexi would bid. Her behavior is a cry for help, from feeling not good enough. Always being compared to her cousins, that type of stuff. No matter how many times Little Lady tells her that she is beautiful, Lexi will always believe that she is being deceitful. How could Lexi believe a compliment. When her best always turns into an argument. Little Lady used to envy Lexi, simply because she had more than she. However, this is no longer true, as she prays for Lexi.

The Note

Torn from a sketch pad, the pages had no lines. Little Lady in a rush when she wrote words from her heart and mind. A simple little note, that had lines more valuable than gold. Lines written by a small child; a seven-year-old. Decorated with four tiny little flowers, that accompanied the words that yield so much power.

It reads:

- From Zadyn

- You got this

- I believe in you

- Don’t give up

- Try hard

- Keep trying

True words written by a Queen to another Queen. Lifting one another up is the only way to be. We must not forget to share how much someone means to us. No matter how busy or how often we fight and fuss. Emotions are a real and valid thing. Accept and acknowledge it’s being. We all are enough; and we are all beautiful in God’s eyes. To the judgement of another, we owe not one dime. Tell daughters and sons how priceless they are. Whether king or queen, they’ll feel like a superstar. Let them know that words do hurt, so be careful what they say. Also, to be careful what they wish for, they may just get it one day. A message so simple, yet very bold. A simple little note, that had lines more valuable than gold. Lines written by a small child; a seven-year-old.

Dealing with mental health problems has been hard. I've lived my whole life believing that no one understood me. I realized, my mind is not for others to understand; but for my edification of self awareness. So, I write to understand me.
