Materials Needed:

Wax:

Paraffin wax, soy wax, or beeswax are popular choices.

Essential oils or fragrance oils:

Choose your preferred scents. Essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus, or citrus work well, or you can use fragrance oils for more variety. For More Read Our Blog on Manga Clash

Wicks:

Cotton or wooden wicks work best.

Double boiler:

For melting the wax.

Container or mold:

You can use glass jars, teacups, or silicone molds.

Thermometer:

To monitor the temperature of the wax.

Stirring utensil:

A wooden spoon or a stick for stirring.

Dye (optional):

If you want to color your candle, use candle dye or crayon shavings.

Glue gun (optional):

To secure the wick to the bottom of the container.

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare Your Work Area

Cover your surface with newspaper or old towels to protect it from wax spills.

Step 2: Measure the Wax

Measure out the amount of wax needed for your container. A good rule of thumb is to fill the container twice, then subtract about 10-15% to account for the wax shrinkage when it cools.

Step 3: Melt the Wax

Using a double boiler (or a heatproof bowl over a pot of water), melt the wax on medium heat. Stir occasionally to ensure the wax melts evenly.

Once the wax is melted, check the temperature with a thermometer. For soy wax, the ideal pouring temperature is around 140-160°F (60-70°C).

Step 4: Add Fragrance

Once the wax is melted, remove it from heat.

Add fragrance oil or essential oil. The typical ratio is about 1 ounce of fragrance per pound of wax, but this can vary depending on the strength of the fragrance and the type of wax used. Stir gently for about 2 minutes to ensure the fragrance is evenly distributed.

Step 5: Add Dye (Optional)

If you'd like to color your candle, add the candle dye or crayon shavings at this stage. Stir until the color is fully dissolved.

Step 6: Attach the Wick

While the wax is cooling slightly (before pouring), attach the wick to the bottom of the container using a glue gun or a wick sticker.

Make sure the wick is centered, and you can use a pencil or skewer to hold it in place by laying it across the top of the container.

Step 7: Pour the Wax

Carefully pour the melted wax into your container. Leave a small amount of wax in the boiler in case you need to top up the candle later.

Pour slowly to avoid air bubbles.

Step 8: Let the Candle Set

Allow the candle to cool and harden for a few hours. Once it’s solid, if there’s a well in the center, you can pour in the reserved wax to fill it up.

Let it cure for 24 hours before lighting it, so the scent can fully bind with the wax.

Step 9: Trim the Wick

Once the candle has completely cooled and set, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch above the surface of the candle.

Tips:

Testing the scent: Before pouring the fragrance, make sure to test a small batch to ensure the scent is to your liking.

Curing time: The candle's fragrance may intensify after a few days of curing.

Safety: Never leave burning candles unattended and always keep them on a heat-resistant surface.

Enjoy your homemade perfumed candle! You can also experiment with different fragrance combinations and colors to create a unique scent profile.
