The shooting of Furias, a film by director Rubén Sánchez that portrays the life of young people from the first generations of Moroccans in Spain, is in preparation. After short and medium-length films such as Joc de nens (2020), Una mujer frente al mar (2021) and Lamento (2021), Sánchez is planning a new medium-length film with Furias that seeks to show, according to the information provided to the press, ‘the fall of the Spanish system, offering the anger and resistance of young people from the Spanish peripheries against the police and the system’.

Tarek Ouahabi, Lamin Drammeh, Ammar El Hachemi D. H, Mohammed El Amine El Khayari, Rafa Medrano, Tony Ruedas, Mario Sensat, Zakaria Chriya, Ayoub Hrika and Monir head the cast of young people who make their debut in Spanish cinema with this film, which is defined as a ‘choleric and relentless immersion for the spectator’ based on the story of a young man who is released from a juvenile centre for a fight and returns to his neighbourhood, immersed in tension due to the death of another boy at the hands of the police.

Based on the real lives of young people who come to Europe from African countries, Furias will be filmed in different locations in Barcelona. The director's commitment is to show ‘a new, diverse cinema that represents all young people in Spain, with a commitment to diversity’. In addition to the perspective of ‘those who fled in search of a better life’, the production emphasises the significant role that Muslim culture, the family and, above all, mothers play in Furias.

Shooting has just finished on Furias, a film by director Rubén Sánchez that portrays the lives of young people from the first generations of Moroccans in Spain. After short and medium-length films such as Joc de nens (2020), Una mujer frente al mar (2021) and Lamento (2021), Sánchez has come up with Furias, a new medium-length film that seeks to show, according to the information provided to the press, ‘the fall of the Spanish system, offering the anger and resistance of young people from the Spanish peripheries against the police and the system’.

Tarek Ouahabi, Lamin Drammeh, Ammar El Hachemi D.H, Mohammed El Amine El Khayari, Rafa Medrano, Tony Ruedas, Mario Sensat, Zakaria Chriya, Ayoub Hrika and Monirosky head the cast of young people who make their debut in Spanish cinema with this film that is defined as a ‘choleric and relentless immersion for the spectator’ based on the story of a young Moroccan in his daily life and in his neighbourhood.

Based on the real lives of young people, it was shot in Figueras (Catalonia), near the border with France. The director's commitment is to show ‘a new, diverse cinema that represents all the young people of Spain, with a commitment to diversity’. The photography was done by Carlos Rodríguez, director of video clips such as Quevedo, Eladio Carrión, Anitta, RVFV’. The production emphasises the significant role played by the Muslim culture, the family, the community, the Barrio, the music and, above all, the mothers, in Furias.

Furies is a choleric and relentless immersion for the viewer, a guerrilla war with pounding music, that of a Greek chorus, foreshadowing the tragedy and tension of its protagonists, which functions as a climax and underscores the artifice of the film. Accustomed to the successes of first generation urban singers in Europe; Morad, Jul, Baby Gang, Central Cee, Digga Deo or Rhove; the Catalan director writes this story, based on the generations of Moroccan, Algerian and Nigerian children living in Europe today.

The production will be shot in the outskirts of Barcelona. It does not focus on one neighbourhood, on the contrary, the set will be in several locations. The director's commitment is to show a new, diverse cinema that represents all the young people of Spain, with a commitment to diversity. All those who fled in search of a better life. Women, mothers, siblings, Furias is also a reflection of the importance of the family. Especially mothers, who play a significant role in Furias. It is also a film that embraces a culture; in this case the Muslim culture.
