Aetheric Essence

Of Charms, Spells, & Magi

By Kuro Seijaku Published 5 days ago 3 min read
No two gates appear the same, the shifting Interral Fabric carved limited paths.

Running, running, running, and crashing throughout the night. Through trees, the bush, and nests where critters dash through the night. Each bush disturbed in a chaotic cacophony in the stillness of the evening air. The rushing rivers were as ponds in your wake, puddles even; negligible. Nigh nonexistent, everything in your sight fell away; as the only two things remaining were you & your path. The world falls away when you're like this; everything becomes a white noise, not a distraction, but another mode of existence entirely – a flow.

As you move, each sense is overclocked, time begins to slow as your pace increases with every stride, the next progressively stronger and more assured than the last, as though you were falling endlessly into a void of no end. Here, against the stillness of the forest, you've found yourself, alone, yet whole. The sense that everything around had a heartbeat, a unique pulse that would otherwise go unnoticed if not for your complete immersion in the essence presently around you. A particularly deep, harkening calling, a beckoning, to a world that feels so familiar, and as alien as ever, still. These were the feelings that drew such an exploratory longing out of your soul, into the forefront of your awareness.

"So this is the power of Enlianna," you inaudibly mutter. Keeping your tone hushed, knowing that the forest would appreciate your graciousness and care for the homeostasis of the ecosystem. You, part of this delicate dance, see the system from your eyes, as the trees from their roots, the sky from its wind, water from its viscosity, and animals from their routines. This harmonious ritual kept all as it should be. Many lunar cycles ago, this stability, purity, was disrupted. Destabilized by the Imperiatti Delkathora. Their rule was segmented, quiet, and benign. Suddenly, it wasn't. The whole of the land stirred and shuddered. The Empress had begun the deployment of her Syldrethi Guard. The Linium Magi, the ones of the Lumin Caste. "Children of the silent wind."

No two gates appear the same; the shifting Interral Fabric carved limited paths. These paths changed with every rotation of Interral locality. The Interrealms were half of a whole that was as mysterious to even the greatest minds of Celis as the Pre-Revocation period of Celian history. The times before the Neo Revs, before the Interrealms; before Atlas. The first half was discovered in the Pre-Revocation era, that being, the Intrarealms. Where the Interrealms displaced space, the Intrarealms displaced time. That is the discovery that led to the outbreak of the Neo Rev Wars.

Obviously, the Celian people didn't approve of the idea that a select few would be afforded the ability to traverse time at will.

At this point in Celian history, the NV Group was still 13-18 organizations that were largely responsible for all of the developments and advancements of Celis and her technologies. 3 of these organizations determined that their effectiveness would be bolstered through the consolidation of their forces into one. That is how the advancements in Intrail'el navigation began to progress. Spelling disaster for 8 of the NV group's foundational members. This development spurred the name change of the NV group from the "Natia Virtus" group to the "Negetien Veertine." An honorary title, in remembrance of the 13 groups that would go on to become 10. The 5 dishonored groups would be reabsorbed upon the disbanding of the "Negetien Veertine" proper. These dishonored groups would spawn The Coterie of Esta, The Lasei Group, and others.

These conflicts would lead to the discovery of the Aetheric Essence, the aural energy emitted by the Interral Fabric; an incredible breakthrough for the future of Atlas and the NV group.
