1、Energy Storage Information——CATL launches world's first mass-produced 587Ah energy storage cell.

On 10 June, CATL officially announced at its "2025 Storage 587 Technology Day" that the world’s first 587Ah dedicated energy storage cell has now entered mass production and delivery.

With an energy density of 434Wh/L, the new cell delivers a 25% increase in system energy density, a 40% reduction in the number of components, and a 57% cut in carbon emissions. Combining high efficiency with outstanding safety performance, the 587Ah cell is being hailed as the ideal solution for large-scale energy storage.

2、Renewable Energy Information——Losses, pricing reform in focus as Shanghai hosts world's largest solar conference

The SNEC PV Power Expo opened in Shanghai on 10 June, amid mounting challenges for China’s solar sector. Severe overcapacity and falling prices have driven module prices down nearly 30% year-on-year, pushing many manufacturers into losses.

Despite a 7% drop in production in May, capacity remains double global demand. With subsidies declining and policy uncertainty growing, the industry is now looking to electricity market reforms to stabilise prices and support recovery.

3、Renewable Energy Information——Britain to invest further 14.2 billion pounds in Sizewell C nuclear project

According to Reuters on 10 June, Britain will invest a further 14.2 billion pounds ($19.25 billion) to build the Sizewell C nuclear plant in the southeast of England, bringing total public investment to £17.8 billion. The move aims to strengthen energy security, meet climate targets, and create jobs.

Sizewell C is expected to power around 6 million homes and create up to 10,000 jobs at peak construction. However, the project’s total cost and completion date have yet to be confirmed.

4、Electric vehicles Information——Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Breaks Nürburgring Lap Record for Production EVs, Beating Tesla and Porsche

On 11 June, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that the production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra set a new lap record of 7:04.957 at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife, beating the previous 7:07.55 record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. It is now the fastest production EV ever recorded at the Nürburgring, with the record previously alternating between Porsche and Tesla.

Lei Jun said Xiaomi plans to maintain a long-term presence at the Nürburgring to compete alongside the world’s top carmakers.

5、Energy Storage Information——New South Wales stacks home battery scheme with virtual power plant incentives

On 11 June, the New South Wales government announced a new scheme in partnership with the federal government to encourage households and small businesses to install battery energy storage systems (BESS) and join virtual power plants (VPPs).

With combined federal and state support, households could receive up to A$5,000 in subsidies. The initiative will align with the national battery subsidy scheme starting on 1 July 2025. The goal is to leverage Australia’s world-leading rooftop solar capacity, reduce energy costs, and enhance energy independence.

On 11 June, HaiChen Storage announced at the SNEC 2025 International Photovoltaic and Smart Energy Conference the mass production of the world’s first 1,000Ah long-duration storage battery, the ∞Cell 1175Ah.

Designed specifically for 4 to 8 hours of long-duration storage, this ultra-high-capacity battery boasts exceptional lifespan, enhanced safety, and low cost. It marks a new milestone for large-scale long-duration energy storage and injects strong momentum into the global clean energy transition.

7、Renewable Energy Information——German utility RWE and tech giant Amazon announce partnership

According to Reuters on 12 June, German utility RWE and tech giant Amazon have entered a strategic framework partnership. RWE will supply Amazon with clean power from wind and solar to support its green energy goals. In return, Amazon will provide RWE with cloud services covering AI and data analytics to enhance energy trading and operational efficiency.

This collaboration marks a new chapter in the integration of energy and digital technology, with both parties committed to furthering renewable energy development and smart energy management.

According to Reuters on 12 June, Donald Trump has ramped up his offensive on US car policy, threatening higher tariffs on imports to boost local production while repealing California’s planned 2035 petrol car ban. The move has triggered a lawsuit by 11 states, including California, pushing back against the decision. Trump’s actions have reignited fierce debate over the future direction of the US automotive industry.

9、Renewable Energy Information——Russia's Rosatom and China's CNNC lead consortiums to build first nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan

According to Reuters on 14 June, Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom and state-owned China National Nuclear Corporation have been tapped to lead separate consortiums to build the first nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan.

The project will utilise advanced VVER-1200 Generation III reactors, marking Kazakhstan’s first nuclear energy initiative since shutting down its sole reactor in 1999. The country aims to achieve 2.4 GW of nuclear capacity by 2035, while deepening energy cooperation with Russia and China.
