The Power of Unity: The Story of the Four Bulls and the Lion

A lesson in friendship, loyalty, and the strength of standing together

By NajibullahPublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, in the heart of a vast and vibrant forest, there lived four bulls who were the closest of friends. Their names were Rohan, Bhima, Varun, and Arjun. These bulls were not only strong and mighty but also deeply loyal to one another. Wherever one went, the others followed. They grazed together in the open meadows, drank from the sparkling river, and rested under the shade of the great banyan trees. Their friendship was the talk of the forest — and the envy of many.

Now, among the creatures of the forest, there was one who had set his greedy eyes upon them — a fierce and cunning lion named Sheru. Sheru was a powerful beast, feared by all. Yet even he hesitated when it came to the four bulls, for he knew he could never defeat them if they stood united. He prowled the edges of the meadows, watching them from afar, his hunger growing each day. Still, he dared not attack.

One sweltering afternoon, when the sun was high and the forest buzzed with the sounds of cicadas, Sheru finally decided to act. He crept silently through the tall grasses, his golden coat blending perfectly with the dry earth. He waited for the right moment — a moment when perhaps one of the bulls would wander away from the others.

Fortune seemed to favor him, for Rohan, the strongest of the four, grew restless and trotted toward a distant patch of clover. He was only a short distance away, but to Sheru, it was enough. With a terrifying roar, Sheru burst from his hiding place and charged straight at Rohan.

The sudden attack startled Rohan, and for a moment, he stumbled backward. The lion’s claws grazed his side, and Sheru prepared to leap for the kill. But before he could strike again, a thunderous sound shook the meadow — the hooves of three bulls pounding the ground.

Bhima, Varun, and Arjun charged with their heads low, their horns sharp and gleaming. They reached Rohan just as Sheru was about to pounce. Without hesitation, they formed a protective circle around their wounded friend. Together, they roared, pawed the ground, and brandished their horns at the intruder.

Sheru hesitated. He snarled and circled them, looking for a weakness, but there was none. The bulls moved in perfect unison, stepping together, horns facing outward, presenting an impenetrable wall. Every time Sheru tried to dart in, a sharp horn would swipe at him. Finally, Bhima lowered his head and charged straight at the lion. Varun and Arjun followed, and the three struck Sheru with such force that he was sent tumbling across the meadow.

Bruised and defeated, Sheru scrambled to his feet and fled into the depths of the forest, his dream of an easy meal crushed by the bulls’ unbreakable bond.

The forest cheered for the brave bulls. Birds sang songs of their bravery, the trees whispered their admiration, and even the river seemed to sparkle a little brighter in their honor.

Rohan, though injured, smiled at his friends with gratitude. “If not for you,” he said, “I would have been lost. Our strength lies not just in our horns, but in our hearts — in the friendship we share.”

The four friends spent the evening tending to Rohan’s wounds. They found healing herbs in the forest, laid him gently in the soft grass, and watched over him through the night. Their unity had been tested, and they had emerged stronger than ever.

In the days that followed, the story of the Four Bulls spread throughout the forest. Animals of all shapes and sizes came to see them and to learn from their example. The bulls taught them that unity was greater than strength, and loyalty more powerful than fear. Soon, alliances and friendships blossomed all across the land, and Sheru, now wary and humbled, dared not attack any group again.

The four bulls lived long, happy lives, ruling the meadows as kings of kindness and courage. And though many years passed, the legend of their friendship remained a shining example for generations to come: that when friends stand together, no force — not even the fiercest of lions — can break them.
