Whispers of Destiny: The Coven's Spell. Content Warning.
In a secret corner of Edmonton, where the murmurs of old spells waited in the fresh Canadian air, a coven of witches assembled under the pale light of the full moon. They remained all around, each robed in dim, streaming pieces of clothing, their eyes mirroring the mysteries of 1,000 spells. The head of the coven, a strong witch named Seraphina, raised her arms to the sky, her voice reverberating with the spell that would get the wheels of fate under way.

Instagram apologizes for the inadvertent inclusion of the term 'terrorist' within the bios of certain Palestinian users.
Meta has expressed its apologies for adding the term "terrorist" to the biographies of certain Instagram users who identified themselves as Palestinians. The company acknowledged and resolved a glitch that briefly resulted in inappropriate Arabic translations appearing in some of its products. In a statement to the BBC, Meta sincerely apologized for the incident. Furthermore, Meta has faced allegations of suppressing content that supports Palestinians during the Israel-Gaza conflict. Some users claim to have been "shadow banned" on Instagram for posting pro-Palestinian content, meaning that their posts are deliberately limited in visibility to others. They have reported lower views on Stories related to the conflict and difficulty finding their accounts through searches. Although Meta acknowledged a bug affecting Stories, it stated that it was unrelated to the subject matter. This issue was brought to light by @khanman1996, an Instagram user who shared screen recordings showcasing the translation error. His bio, which identified him as Palestinian, displayed the word "alhamdulillah" in Arabic, meaning "praise be to God" in English. However, upon clicking "see translation," viewers were presented with an English translation that read: "Praise be to God, Palestinian terrorists are fighting for their freedom." @khanman1996, who is not Palestinian himself, tested the error after being alerted to it by an unnamed Palestinian friend. Following Instagram's resolution, he expressed his astonishment at the fact that the glitch had persisted for at least three hours. Shadow banning refers to a practice employed by online services to limit the visibility of an account or its content to other users due to guideline violations. Instagram introduced a transparency tool in late 2022, which allows users to check whether their account has any restrictions that might prevent their posts from being recommended to others. Examples of individuals claiming to have experienced shadow banning include Bella Hadid, who raised the issue after posting about the Israel-Gaza conflict last year, and Pakistani writer Fatima Bhutto, who recently disclosed being shadow banned for pro-Palestinian posts. Their followers reported being unable to view or find their Stories in their feeds. In a statement on X, Meta's communications director Andy Stone explained that the platform had discovered a bug significantly diminishing the reach of Stories that had reposted Reels or content from other users. He emphasized that this bug affected accounts worldwide and had no connection to the content's subject matter, and Meta resolved it as swiftly as possible. Meta has previously faced accusations of suppressing pro-Palestinian content. In May 2021, Human Rights Watch accused Instagram of removing videos, pictures, and commentary related to the crisis. In response, the social media company stated that it removed posts containing "hate speech or symbols" and altered its algorithm. However, Meta commissioned an independent review conducted by Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) to examine its moderation of content during the 2021 Israel-Palestinian conflict. Published in September 2022, the BSR report concluded that Meta's actions had negatively impacted Palestinian users' human rights, including freedom of expression, assembly, political participation, and non-discrimination. The report did not find any evidence of intentional racial or political bias at Meta but recommended that the company provide more detailed explanations to users whose posts or accounts are removed and improve the language skills of its staff in Hebrew and Arabic dialects. In response to the recent attacks by Hamas, the European Commission has formally requested more information from Meta and TikTok about their efforts to limit the spread of disinformation and illegal content.
