Samsung's proprietary Exynos 2200 flagship chipset with AMD graphics was slated to be unveiled on January 11, but it did not. The delay behind the unveiling of the Exynos 2200 chipset is being attributed to a simpler reason: Samsung wants to announce it with its next flagship range, the Galaxy S22 lineup, the media has reported.

The company had earlier announced it would unveil the Exynos 2200 in January which is the next-gen chipset from the South Korean tech giant with improved performance and graphics capabilities. However, according to a new report by Business Korea, a Samsung official has said that the reason behind the delay of plans is not because of any production or performance issues, but the Exynos 2200 chip was rescheduled to launch alongside the Galaxy S22 series.

“We are planning to unveil the new application processor at the time of launching a new Samsung smartphone. There are no problems with the AP’s production and performance,” the official was quoted as saying by Business Korea.

Earlier, when the previous-gen Exynos 2100 was unveiled, it was launched two days before last year's flagship S21 lineup.

Meanwhile, some reports suggest that the prolonged lockdown in the Chinese city of Xi'an will have minimal impact on the performance of Samsung Electronics, which has a chip fabrication complex there. Samsung Electronics has invested more than $25 billion in the Xi'an manufacturing complex.

Samsung, the world's largest memory chip maker, temporarily adjusted operations at its NAND flash chips manufacturing base in the city late last month, following the city's draconian restrictions imposed on December 22, banning its 13 million citizens from venturing out and doing nonessential activities, to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
