Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's First Look Netflix deal is not what it seems
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s critics in the media have labelled the Netflix partnership a downgrade. Here is why not having an exclusive deal may not be such a bad thing.

First look deal is being described as
Netflix has the right to say yes or no to a project before Harry and Meghan's media company Archewell Productions can shop it around other studios
Should I just say it? Meaningless waffle.
There is one small factor called price. The only thing which may work here to keep it with Netflix is because sometimes in business you build relationships and they can become intertwined over time. Which is probably the case here with this Archewell production partnership with Netflix.
I can easily see hypothetically a ruthless business minded person finding a way to riggle out of such First Look deal on the price factor alone. Then taking it to others like Amazon, Disney, Halu, Discovery and the list goes on.
What will be the price of a First Look deal on the Duchess of Sussex's With Love, Meghan?

And if those I have mentioned are given the opportunity to start bidding for it? I think it will be a higher price than what Netflix paid for it. However that intertwined business with Netflix partnership with As Ever has probably prevented that bidding.

A situation where circumstance benefits the two parties, that intertwined business. But does it? Is Netflix really involved in the apparent separate legal entity called As Ever Wine (the "Winery")?

Maybe the evolution of the As Ever partnership with Netflix made it inevitable the loosening of the exclusive deal of five years ago.
The Duchess of Sussex Meghan described the dynamics with her Netflix partners on the specifics of daily dealings with As Ever as
"It is a constant dance".

There is a bigger story to be told about the apparent success story of As Ever Wine (the "Winery"). It is not always about the sell outs but what you sell and how much of it. There is no doubt that the sales from the two drops of the vintage As Ever Napa Valley Rosé have significantly improved the startup company's balance sheet.
In another part of that interview the Duchess of Sussex Meghan gave to the Aspire podcast with Emma Grede, they both discussed the reluctance of founders to give away a share of ownership of the company they worked so hard to start. At one point Emma Grede even shared her personal experience of her eagerness to say yes to anyone who came with a chequebook as long as she kept the business going.
With Love, Meghan is a piece that fits in the narrative and storytelling for the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's ambition to build a Heritage lifestyle brand.

Design or fashion that draws inspiration from the past, particularly traditional or historical aesthetics, craftsmanship, and materials. For the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's ambition to build a Heritage lifestyle brand, there is history to guide use with this aspect. Here own history, theTig.

Will the First Look deal test that loyalty of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's fans with a move to a different platform away from Netflix? Will the business necessities of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's Lifestyle brand As Ever make it inevitable? There will come a time when that search for a new audience for her lifestyle brand will dictate a move to a different platform away from Netflix.

Will the Duchess of Sussex Meghan draw on her past to capture that new audience on a different platform where she was introduced in a different lens?
And of course, there is the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's other half in Montecito.
"I am incredibly proud of my wife".
I did not factor his priorities here, that is another article on team work.
