Japan investment in India 2022

On 19 March 2022, a joint news conference between the Indian prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, and Fumio Kishida, Japanese prime minister, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, India.

In the next five years, Japan will be investing 5 5 trillion yen, which means $42 billion and 31,89,75,93,00,000 Indian rupees, announced by Fumio Kishida on Saturday.

In this conference in 2022, India and Japan are expected to evolve close bilateral ties with high agenda economic cooperation. Being part of economic co-operation, expanding the project on bullet train beyond Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor in India could occur.

The decision was taken in a meeting held in New Delhi, India, on Saturday. The prime ministers of Japan and India met to reinforce security in the Ukraine crisis. In addition to Japan investing in India, the motive behind the meeting was also to enhance economic ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida: “Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine coincides with this trip, I’d like to emphasize the importance of international unity and confirm that Japan and India will work together on various issues.” Japanese prime minister said this in meeting with India prime minister on Saturday.

Japan and India are part of the (QUAD) Quadrilateral Security Dialogue. QUAD is a security framework in which Australia and the United States are included. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Japan has penalized dozens of Russian organizations and individuals and also received refugees from Ukraine.

Investment in 2014

Japan has been encouraging a high-speed railway construct on its technology of bullet trains and the development of India’s urban infrastructure. In 2014, Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan, had announced a 3.5 trillion investment in India for the next five years.
