Apple Inc. produces the iPhone, a highly popular line of smartphones that debuted in 2007 and has since become a globally recognized consumer electronics product. The iPhone's appeal lies in its sleek design, user-friendly interface, and robust hardware, making it a favorite of both technology enthusiasts and everyday users. With each new version, the iPhone continues to break new ground in smartphone capabilities, introducing innovative features like augmented reality, facial recognition, and advanced cameras. This ongoing innovation keeps the iPhone in high demand, as it remains one of the most coveted mobile devices available today.
iPhone 15
Apple finds it difficult to keep the details of their upcoming iPhone 15 models under wraps due to their vast network of suppliers, some of whom inevitably leak information. We are anticipating four iPhone 15 models, with two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch sizes similar to the iPhone 14 models. One of the 6.1-inch devices will be the standard iPhone 15, while one of the 6.7-inch models will be called the iPhone 15 "Plus." The remaining 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhones will be more luxurious and costly "Pro" models.
As with the iPhone 14 lineup, the iPhone 15 Pro models will have the best features to justify their higher cost.
The current rumors suggest that all the iPhone 15 models will have a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port, and the Dynamic Island will be included in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, in addition to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This means that the flagship iPhone lineup's notch, which has been in use since the iPhone X, will be discontinued.
Apple plans to utilize Qualcomm modem chips for the new iPhones since their own modem chips are still in development. The standard iPhone 15 models will get an upgrade to the A16 chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro models, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro models will have faster and more efficient 3-nanometer A17 chips. The Pro models may also see some minor design changes, such as titanium frames, slimmer bezels, more curved edges, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is predicted to get periscope lens technology for better zooming capabilities.
Pricing for the iPhone 15 models is anticipated to be the same, with the entry-level 6.1-inch device starting at $799, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus starting at $899.

No Touch ID
According to reports, the iPhone 15 models are unlikely to feature Touch ID and will instead continue to rely on Face ID. While there have been rumors about a possible under-display Touch ID solution, it's not expected to be included in the iPhone 15 models. Apple is reportedly working on an under-display Face ID feature, but it's not expected to be ready until 2025. Instead, for the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple is expected to expand the use of its Dynamic Island feature to all models, not just the Pro models, in 2023.
USB-C Limitations
According to leaker ShrimpApplePro, the iPhone 15 models will only support USB-C accessories that have been certified by the Apple Made for iPhone (MFi) program. Foxconn, an Apple supplier, is reportedly manufacturing MFi-certified accessories such as EarPods and cables with USB-C connectors.
The MFi certification for USB-C accessories could allow Apple to restrict certain features, such as fast charging and high-speed data transfers, to only Apple-approved accessories. ShrimpApplePro has also mentioned that cables lacking MFi certification will be limited in terms of data and charging speed. Additionally, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple may require MFi certification for USB-C chargers capable of fast charging the iPhone.
Release Date
Based on Apple's past release schedule for new iPhone models, it is expected that the iPhone 15 lineup will be released in September 2023. However, it's important to note that this is still a rumor and Apple has not officially confirmed the release date.
However, as these are still rumors and leaks, it's important to take them with a grain of salt and wait for official announcements from Apple.
