iPhones provide plenty of features to attract users. Excellent cameras are one of them. However, nothing comes without cons. Some people find it difficult to cope with many problems the iPhones’ seem to have.

Like Bluetooth connectivity, fewer music options, and unable to download from some apps and others. In all of this, the most concerning one is the problem with hotspot and connectivity. iPhones seem to offer a slow hotspot connection that troubles users, especially in moments of need.

This article shines a light on some general measures you can adopt to keep your hotspot up to speed.

Why would you be using a Hotspot on your phone?

The hotspot is a feature present not only in the iPhone but in almost every smartphone. It allows you to share your internet with others. If you have cellular data on your phone, you can share it with other devices by turning on your phone's hotspot.

The other device(s) will connect through the wifi option on their phones. That is the simple working of a hotspot and why users prefer having a reliable one on their phones. However, many iPhone users complain about their hotspots being slow.

Some simple tricks to fasten your hotspot:

You have a lot of data on your phone. Your friend asks you to turn on your hotspot so he/she can also enjoy the fast internet you are bragging about. But as soon as he connects to your device, he faces a slow internet not faster than a tortoise. How can you still make your friend believe that you were true about the speed? You need to fix your hotspot issues.

Here's what you can do:

1. Turn on Airplane mode for a few seconds:

Your iPhone may be facing a glitch with the internet or difficulty catching signals due to a heavy load of apps. Turn on Airplane mode from the settings or control centre. It will give your iPhone a break. Turn it off after a few seconds. It will be just like a refreshing nap for your phone.

2. Restart the iphones:

If a nap doesn't work, what do you do? You go for a longer sleep.

That's exactly what your phone needs. Restart it. Your hotspot will surely get better. If not, do the same with the other device that is connected to your hotspot. You never know where the problem can be. So restarting your phone is a great way for it to reboot itself and fix some of the issues causing it to operate slow.

3. Check on your background apps:

Background apps work like a parasite. Using up all your data speed without you knowing about it and leaving nothing to be used by the device connected to your hotspot. Here is what you can do: clear all the apps from the background by swiping them up.

Secondly, go to the settings > general > Background App Refresh and turn it off or select specific apps to turn it off. It will divert the cellular data speed from being used by these apps to your hotspot.

You may also need to turn off automatic updates of apps. Go to settings > App Store > turn off App updates.

4. Update software:

Apple keeps updating its software from time to time by inventing new options and making its features work better and amending previous faults if any. Updating your phone can boost your hotspot’s speed. You can see the difference after the update.

Also, each new update offers some new features. So maybe updating your iPhone turns out to be useful after all. Go to settings > general > software update. The latest update is iOS 15.3.1.

5. Pair both devices with Bluetooth also:

If none of the above works, try connecting both devices (the one that is providing the hotspot and the one that is connected to the hotspot) to pair through Bluetooth. It can give a strong communication between the two devices. Consider it as an additional wire that can be connected invisibly with both devices, giving an extra road for signals to travel between one another.

However, this is just a cheat code. No one can tell the true mechanism behind this but it surely will work. Also, try to keep both the phones as close as possible. Hotspot loses their speed at a certain distance.

6. Reset network settings:

If you already didn't know about this one, here is a guide: go to settings > general > transfer or reset phone > reset > reset network settings. This could prove to be effective in strengthening your hotspot speed.

7. Maximize compatibility:

This feature is present only in iPhone 12 and above. So it would surely make you frown if your model is below that. But for iPhone 12 and above users, this is something of interest. So Apple launched this feature to finally say goodbye to the never-ending complaints of hotspot speed.

It works by upgrading your hotspot’s speed from 2.5GHz to 5GHz(GHz refers to the speed at which data is transferred between devices). Too much right?

This was actually designed to use your cellular data on some big device like a television or your PC. So if your hotspot is generally slow while there is no problem with your cellular data, you should turn it on to maximize compatibility and gain the privilege of a whole new internet experience.

8. Try using Verizon:

This solution is region-specific but has been reported to be working quite well for those who can avail of this service.

Verizon is one of the best cell phone carriers that also allow you to share the internet among devices through hotspots. That means, if your iPhone is connected to Verizon, you can turn on the hotspot and allow other devices to connect to your iPhone and they can easily share your internet. Verizon offers good speed even through hotspots.

9. Try changing your SIM card:

If your cellular data is working perfectly on your iPhone but not through the hotspot, try shifting to some other SIM card. Because many SIM cards are known to have problems with sharing the internet through hotspots. It can largely be due to your SIM card being old. By going to your service provider, you can request the latest SIM card against your number at a very low price.

You can also try changing your plan. If you have a limited internet bundle, the hotspot may not work up to the mark.

Conclusion:

There is not a single problem in this world that does not come with a solution. All we have to do is dig in and find every possible remedy. Here, in this case, there are plenty of remedies to this tiny problem. You can start trying one by one till any of them works. Surely there will be some improvement in your hotspot’s speed if you try all of the above.

But if restarting, resetting, updating, or changing networks does not work, I will suggest you shift to the latest model of iPhone to enjoy the benefits of maximizing compatibility features that will give you an exotic experience of 5GHz speed on the hotspot, along with enjoying latest software updates that Apple has rolled out.
