1.Renewable Energy Information——Trump administration to audit billions in energy grants awarded under Biden

According to Reuters on May 15,The Trump administration said it will audit some $15 billion in grants to power grid and manufacturing supply chain projects awarded during the Biden administration.

The audit is in its initial phase and the Energy Department said the process may extend to other DOE program offices, which could mean putting billions of dollars worth of grants for other projects up for review.

2.Renewable Energy Information——Google, energyRe sign 600-MW renewables agreement

On 15 May, US renewable energy developer energyRe unveiled a deal allowing Google to invest in and purchase Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from over 600 MW of new solar and solar-plus-storage projects.

This is the second agreement that energyRe signs with Alphabet Inc’s search engine, bringing the total clean energy capacity the companies will add to the grid to over 1 GWac.And it contributes to Google’s goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its operations and value chain by 2030.

3.Renewable Energy Information——National Grid takes $402 million hit on paused New York wind project

According to Reuters on May 15,National Grid (NG.L), opens new tab booked a multi-million impairment charge on a paused U.S. wind project, but said it was on track to invest 60 billion pounds ($79.74 billion) in energy networks through March 2029 and its results beat estimates.

4.Renewable Energy Information——Uniper plans first solar power farms in Sweden in renewables push

According to Reuters on May 16,German utility Uniper has announced a partnership with solar producer Solgrid to develop its first two solar power farms in central Sweden, the Segaas and Segerhult projects, with a planned joined capacity of 35 megawatts (MW). The start of construction is planned for early 2026 and completion expected by 2027 at the latest.

5.Energy Storage Information——Elgin Energy secures GPS approval for 150MW grid-forming solar-plus-storage site in Victoria, Australia

On 16 May, Developer Elgin Energy has secured grid connection approval from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) for a 150MW solar-plus-storage site in Victoria.

This project, situated in the Central Highlands region of Victoria, will include a 125MW/250MWh 2-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) and be connected to the National Electricity Market (NEM).

6.Energy Storage Information——Gotion High-Tech Unveils All-Solid.State "Golden Stone Battery" with0.2GWh Pilot Line

At the 2025 Global Technology Conference (16-17May),Gotion High-Tech launched six new batteryproducts, including the highly anticipated all-solid-state"Gemstone Battery". To support pilot production, thecompany has commissioned its first all-solid-statebattery pilot line with a designed capacity of 0.2 GWh.The fully self-developed line achieves a 90 per centyield rate. The "Gemstone battery"is currentlyundergoing pilot production and vehicle road testing.

7.Electric vehicles Information——Japan mulls subsidies for Tesla's EVcharging stations in tariff talks

According to TBS on May 17, Japan is considering a plan to offer subsidies for building charging stations for Tesla (TSLA.O), addressing US concerns over Japan's current support exclusively for the domestic CHAdeMO standard.

This initiative forms part of broader discussions in the upcoming US-Japan trade talks.

8.Electric vehicles Information——Tesla Introduces Unprecedented Discounts and Incentives Amid Declining U.S. Sales

According to EconomicTimes, in response to a significant downturn in U.S. sales and mounting pressure from competitors, Tesla has launched a series of substantial discounts and incentives to stimulate demand. These measures include extending a $1,000 purchase incentive to ten categories of public service workers, such as teachers and students, and offering 0% financing across the entire Model 3 range. Aditionally, Tesla has started accepting Cybertruck trade-ins.
