From Chaos to Canvas: My Journey into Interior Design in Bangalore

How One Pinterest Board and a Chance Discovery of Eduleem Changed Everything

By MuskanPublished 9 months ago 3 min read

If someone had told me five years ago that I’d be designing living rooms and cafe interiors in Bangalore for a living, I’d have laughed. Back then, I was buried in spreadsheets, working a 9-to-6 job that paid well but drained my spirit. My days felt grey until one weekend, while scrolling endlessly through Pinterest for “aesthetic home office setups,” something inside me clicked.

I didn’t know it then, but that curiosity would lead me to Eduleem School of Design & IT and to the most fulfilling chapter of my life.

The Pinterest Board That Sparked It All

I’ve always had a thing for beautiful spaces. I used to rearrange my bedroom as a teenager every two weeks, convincing my parents it was “creative therapy.” But it never occurred to me that interior design could be a career at least not for someone like me, with no formal art background.

That changed during lockdown. I started making mood boards, learning about color theory, binge-watching home makeovers, and reimagining corners of my own apartment. What started as a side hobby soon became an obsession.

Still, turning passion into profession? That felt risky… until I found Eduleem.

Discovering Eduleem: The Turning Point

While researching Interior Design Courses in Bangalore, Eduleem kept popping up. What caught my attention wasn’t just the glowing reviews or their student portfolios it was their approach.

Unlike traditional colleges, Eduleem’s 12-month diploma program emphasized practical learning, which was exactly what I needed. They weren’t offering abstract theory they were teaching how to design actual spaces, pitch to real clients, and even build your brand as a designer.

It sounded intimidating. I wasn’t sure if I was “creative enough.” But I reached out anyway.

A Place That Believed in Beginners

From the moment I spoke to the counselors, I knew I was in the right place. They didn’t oversell. They asked about my interests, walked me through the curriculum, and even invited me to visit the campus studio in Koramangala. Seeing the setup fabric libraries, 3D modeling tools, drafting spaces sealed the deal.

I quit my job two weeks later.

The first few weeks at Eduleem were exhilarating. I learned about space planning, lighting design, and furniture layout. I discovered how form meets function. I met architects, stylists, and mentors who treated design like both a craft and a science.

Designing My First Space

Six months in, I was selected to be part of an internship with a boutique design studio in Indiranagar. Under their guidance, I co-designed a small café my first real project! From sourcing materials to presenting design concepts to the client, I was involved in every step.

And yes, I cried (happy tears) when I saw the final space. It wasn’t just a café it was my vision brought to life.

Why Eduleem Was the Right Choice

Eduleem didn’t just teach me how to be a designer they helped me become a confident creative professional. With affordable fees, hands-on classes, and exposure to the Bangalore design industry, they gave me tools, mentorship, and clarity.

Today,I work as a freelance interior designer, collaborating with architects and styling homes across the city. It’s not always easy but it’s always exciting.

If you're looking for interior design courses in Bangalore and wondering where to start, here’s my honest advice: find a place that nurtures creativity, not just credentials. For me, that was Eduleem

Because sometimes, the life you’re meant to live is waiting on the other side of a decision you’re scared to make.

It all started with a Pinterest board. They’re about transformation. And for me, they transformed everything.
