Best Web Hosting Services of 2021: Top 10 Website Host Company Rankings

Nowadays, it's not always about owning a piece of hardware, as it was traditionally. As computing power and bandwidth requirements continue to grow, many have adopted cloud services. Over two thirds (70.62%) of survey respondents have adopted a cloud-based system.

These trends have been driving the market for web hosting services, as well as web hosting providers, which makes it the perfect time to look at our annual list of top websites hosting companies.

Each year, we review and rank the world's largest website hosting companies based on various factors, including product features, customer service, pricing, and company stability. Here are the

1. GoDaddy (U.S. Based Company, No. 1 Ranking)

It's not often that an email hosting provider claims the top spot, but GoDaddy does in this ranking. The company offers a vast array of options, including domain name registration, website hosting, and design services. GoDaddy has a rich history, as it's been around since 1997. The company currently has over 57 million customers and over 391,000 employees around the world. The company recently announced plans to spend $1 billion over the next four years in improving its products and services.

2. HostGator (U.S. Based Company, No. 2 Ranking)

GoDaddy's closest competitor in this ranking, HostGator also operates a sizable web hosting business. The company has over seven million customers worldwide, including over three million customers in the United States alone. The company offers a plethora of products and services to its customers, including a highly customizable hosting and domain package, as well as more traditional features like email hosting, websites, and web applications. In addition to hosting, HostGator also provides managed hosting, website building, and marketing services.

3. Namecheap (U.S. Based Company, No. 3 Ranking)

Namecheap offers more features than either of the other two websites hosting providers in our list, although it doesn't offer as much hosting overall. Namecheap doesn't have the same scope of support and features that GoDaddy and HostGator offer, but what it does offer is highly competitive. Namecheap uses open source software in its management consoles and pricing is highly flexible. Namecheap offers free domain hosting, a free dedicated server, and an annual price guarantee.

4. 1&1 (U.S. Based Company, No. 4 Ranking)

1&1 offers a complete package of features for a highly competitive price. 1&1's unique business model gives customers the ability to "buy the software as well as the services" and they offer a great value. 1&1 boasts more than 4.2 million customers, but it's important to note that the vast majority of those customers are inside the United States. 1&1's management, billing, and customer support systems have an excellent reputation and the company's customer service rating is a respectable 3.9 out of 5 stars on Trust Pilot.

5. Hostwinds (U.S. Based Company, No. 5 Ranking)

Hostwinds is a relatively new entry into the ranks of the largest websites hosting providers, but the company has already proven itself as a serious competitor. While the company doesn't have the breadth of offerings as 1&1 and GoDaddy, its hosting products are notably less expensive than the competition, and it has established a strong presence in the U.S. market. Hostwinds is ranked fifth overall and it is one of the only companies that offers unlimited disk space and bandwidth per server, which is particularly important for smaller businesses.

6. Amazon Web Services (U.S. Based Company, No. 6 Ranking)

AWS is by far the largest website hosting provider on this list. The company provides customer support in more than 70 languages, and it has a huge worldwide customer base. The company currently supports over 30 million websites across 400,000 distinct domains. AWS is particularly strong in providing services such as application hosting, database hosting, and mobile application hosting. It is also one of the few major websites hosting providers to offer serverless computing services that provide web applications with simple and fast operations with minimum maintenance and management.

7. DigitalOcean (U.S. Based Company, No. 7 Ranking)

DigitalOcean offers a more versatile package of hosting products than the other two companies listed here. DigitalOcean offers a complete platform that includes cloud storage, database storage, and application hosting. The company offers extremely high bandwidth, the ability to scale on demand, as well as unlimited bandwidth per server. DigitalOcean is the only provider in our ranking that offers a serverless hosting service, which has become increasingly popular in the past few years.

8. DigitalOcean Cloud (U.S. Based Company, No. 8 Ranking)

DigitalOcean Cloud is an up-and-coming host, and it has a lot of potential to grow quickly in the coming years. The company offers a very wide array of cloud hosting solutions, including a complete platform for running serverless applications, low-cost cloud storage, as well as minimal configuration capabilities. Like all of the other companies listed here, DigitalOcean offers unlimited disk space, and it has a 1-10 year money back guarantee. DigitalOcean is one of the most impressive cloud hosting solutions available today.

9. iPage (U.S. Based Company, No. 9 Ranking)

iPage offers a no-frills option for hosting websites. iPage has fewer services and less support than some of the other hosting providers on this list, but the company's high bandwidth and high-quality hosting services make up for the shortcomings. iPage has a robust "solutions catalogue" that includes everything from back-office web hosting and content management to VPS, dedicated server, and VPS SSD solutions. iPage also boasts numerous security features and support forums for any questions you may have.

10. Squarespace (U.S. Based Company, No. 10 Ranking)

Squarespace offers a host of powerful website hosting solutions for businesses of all sizes. Like many of the other services on this list, Squarespace also offers a dedicated service for more demanding websites. Squarespace offers an impressive range of features, but the company's pricing isn't as inexpensive as some of the other providers. Squarespace prices tend to range from a low of $19.95
