But this procedure is only valid if you know the password and just want to decrypt the document. Follow these steps if you want to unlock PDF files using Acrobat DC.
Simply right-click on the PDF file and click the “Open with” option and then select the “Adobe Acrobat” option.
Enter the password and click “OK”.
Now you have to change the security settings. On the top left corner click on the lock button, further, click on “Permission Details”.
Now from the dropdown of the “Password Security” option select “No security”.
A Dialog box will appear, click “Yes” to confirm the settings.
You cannot remove the password from PDF if you dont have the paid version of Acrobat DC. Hence, we can also say that it’s a disadvantage of this procedure.
2- Using Browser to remove PDF password-
This may seem awkward but with the “Print to PDF” option you can remove password from PDF files, provided that your PDF dont have any printing restrictions. Generally, a user applies encryption in order to hide crucial data.
Open your PDF file in the Chrome browser.
If you are unable to open PDF by using the Chrome browser then, go to the location where the PDF file is saved. Now right click on the document and select the “Open with” option, then select “Google Chrome”.
Further, enter the password and click on the “Submit” option.
Click on the “Print” option provided in the toolbar.
A tab will appear, now from the drop-down option of designation, choose “Save as PDF” option, then click on the “Save” button.
Further, enter the desired name and location.
A copy of that document will be saved on the specified location without any restrictions.
The same applies to the Windows Microsoft edge browser and all other browsers that have a built-in Print to PDF option. Some steps may differ but the majority of the steps are the same. You can use the Edge browser if in case you dont have a Chrome browser.
