Writing Down The Bones Deck #4
Inspired by Denise E Lindquist

This post is inspired by Denise E Lindquist. I never would have known about this deck of cards if it wasn't for her. So thank you Denise for sharing this lovely deck of cards with all of us on Vocal.
Full disclosure: I have not read Natalie Goldberg's book titled by the same name. I just own her cards.
I also receive a small commission from Amazon if you purchase these cards via the link that I have provided for you. Thank you.
I've been stuck in a writing rut. I have honestly tried everything to get myself out of the funk I have found myself in after losing my fourth child. I tried reading more- when I have time that is. I tried art journaling. I even tried listening to my favourite podcasts about writing and writers block. I mean nothing has been able to get me out of this writers block and depression I find myself in.
I was scrolling Vocal and I came across another post by Denise that featured these cards. And I thought to myself, maybe this is it. SO I bought them. I thought to myself, "Maybe this is what I need". I've been carrying the cards around for about a month- trying to get "in the mood" to write again. I started writing this on my Kindle Scribe today while I was at home and I felt everything just flow. I'm going to try and post every prompt that I work on. I truly love tarot and oracle cards as well as affirmation cards, that is why I clicked so well with these.
SO without further ado- enjoy my attempt at erasing my writer's block with the fourth prompt.
4) What is silent? Make a list. Let's push it. See if you can list at least thirty silent objects and feel each one's deep silence.
Whew. This one stumped me for a bit. This is a suprisinglyh hard list to write.
Here is my list:
1) The gentle hum of a computer.
2) The silent way the keys clack together as I am typing.
3) The gentle swipe of my Kindle Scribe.
4) The soft way a pen glides across paper.
5) The beautiful hum of a crystal.
6) A sunset. Or a sunrise, depending on your preference.
7) The way he looks at me, in complete adoration.
8) The soft breathing of my children while they sleep.
9) The growth of my somewhat dying plants.
10) The bubbles in my kitchen sink, silently popping.
11) The silence of home, in the middle of the night. Safe.
12) The quiet magic of paperback books, just staring at you.
13) My daughter's unused paint palette. Admiring her artistic talents from a distance.
14) The local library- that is when my children aren't there.
15) Gentle waves at the beach, lapping away at the shore.
16) The soft squish your feet make in the sand.
17) The gentle touch of a snowflake falling.
18) The gentle embrace of a loved one's hug.
19) The twinkle in someone's eyes when they are excited about something.
20) The clack of someone's fork and knife while their eating.
21) Chewing. Can be silent or loud depending on the person.
22) The silent way the keyboard blinks at you, waiting for you to type the next letter. (I can't think of the word for the line that shows up.)
23) The sound of a candy unwrapping. (Because it is Valentine's Day.)
24) The gentle way the paper peels off the back of a sticker.
25) The way the keys clack on a cellphone, gentle to the touch.
26) The shuffle of a deck of cards.
27) The gentle way the stars look at you, peering down in the night sky.
28) The quiet way the world continues to spin, even when it feels like your life has completely stopped moving.
29) The spritz of cleaner.
30) The way icicles drip, slowly and quietly as the sun rays begin to melt them away.
When I read over this list, a lot of these things do make a soft noise but this challenge is seriously hard. Definitely has me inspired though.
What did you guys think of my list? I was actually pretty proud of this challenge. Thirty is way too many though. I think like ten on this list were actual silent things.

Great list! Don't you love seeing how sweet your children look while they sleep? I could watch mine all day when they were young
