True Redemption
Modern Satire
I remember my father the way he was before what he is now. We used to go on walks and rides throughout the country. We used to bike and see the world. My father was loving, hardworking and honest. My father was caring, good nature and decent. He used to tell me wise stories about life and read to me about what a real man is. He used to have hope for me. Things aren't what they used to be. I'm Kc and my father is President Billy Cleveland. My father was a minister turned politician. He loved people and leading them to the right way. He loved church but he had an urge for justice. He wanted things to get better. Sometimes I think the injustice turned into an ambition because he was determined. But I missed the father who showed his love in practical ways and now that he became President of the United States, things have for certain changed. My mother noticed. Her name was Glo Cleveland. She went from first lady of a church all the way up to First Lady of the United States. My mother for certain noticed the changes in my father but she just dismissed it as job stress. We used to gather at a peaceful dinner but now its just my mother and I.
The Secret Service busted into a press conference with President Cleveland and they whispered in his ear. He finds out that Kc his son is missing and rushes off the stage. The Press Secretary explains that family matters have come up and the president must attend to those matters. President Cleveland asks for his wife and the Secret Service try to explain the urgency. President Cleveland asks for his wife again. Then President Cleveland demands for his wife and refuses anymore conversation. The Chief of Staff ushers in the First Lady and she pushes out the Secret Service. The First Lady stands as her husband hug and comfort her. And she slowly begin "Billy I told you this job was much on Kc. I told you he missed his father. I told you you were his...." And the president let go of hugging and walks toward his chair and falls into the Oval Office Chair. And he says "I just wanted to make the world better for him and others. I just wanted to make this world better. I'm tired of the injustices. I'm tired of the offense. I'm tired of the hatred...."
And she says " You weren't alone. You were never alone. I was always by your side. But your son needs you to teach him how to be a man. He is longing for the father of his youth." And President Cleveland encouraged used his red phone "Secret Service where did you say he was missing from?" And they answered and he responded reassuringly. And he responds "I can do this Glo. I can fix our family. I can fix our country too. I think our son went back to the old country roads we travelled in DC." And the First Lady smiled and urged him to find their son.
The President urgently looking for a boy his son's age. He looked several times on the road and only saw a man dressed in hiking. So the President said "You fellow you seen any young man along this road. He goes by the name of Kc." And the guy turned around and said "I'm Kc". And the President said "That's you Kc. I thought your mother thought you were dead. Get in. Why would you do such a thing? We loved you. You are my only child." Kc turned and said "Dad you loved your job more than me. The only one at the dinner table is mom and me. You don't care nothing about your child." President Cleveland said "Yes the job is challenging. But I am doing it for you. I am doing it for other children. I am doing it for the future. But I promise you son if you give me another chance. I promise I will be better..." The President just had a heart attack. The Secret Service dragged Kc in the car and drive to the nearest hospital. The First Lady an hour later meet her son. The First Lady embraces her son and he cries uncontrollably. After hours later, the doctor signal for the family to come in. The doctor says that the president is still sleepy and drowsy over the operation and surgery but he could hear. Kc promises "Dad if you wake up. I will give you another chance. Be there for me and Mom. I am so sorry for leaving. I am so sorry for walking away from you and Mom. God please let him live. We need him. Everybody needs him." And the First Lady Glo whispered in his ear "Billy I love you. Billy I love you. Billy Kc love you. Come back." Just when the doctors about to come in and First Lady Glo and her son Kc are about to lose hope. President Billy Cleveland mumbles several times and exclaimed "I love you both". And First Lady Glo and her son Kc run to hug him.
