THRESHOLD, a simple word with many meanings. Some may think of it as simply a limit for things, with both its highs and its lows. Indeed it is true to an extent that it means those, but for others it could mean much more, for example, life or death. Every person has a certain threshold, be it high or low. However when those limits are reached and extended well beyond, the result becomes the same, just GOOD or BAD. Take for example, imagine if you are someone whom people know as a very tolerant person (someone who never 'crashes out' or loses it), and they just continue to poke and banter with you even if you are feeling down or tell them to stop...

until eventually you decided that enough is enough and you accidentally let your emotions out and lose it, (scolding and shouting at them with an aggressive tone). That deep down is the real you, its just that you haven't decided to show it as its a part of you that you do not want anybody to find out. That part of you is only shown when that certain threshold is reached, something alike to a Unicorn, which is believed to be a myth and a legend, just like your limits. Your friends think of it as non-existent, continuing to 'make fun' of you as a joke just cause you can 'take it', but deep down you are just holding it in. Sometimes its better to be this way, just to maintain a good impression. However on others you just simply cannot take it anymore and that you cannot control it, like water overflowing past the limit of the cup. This is completely understandable, and is simply human nature to us where each of us have our limits. The dangerous thing about this is that having threshold for your feelings is akin to having a bomb in you heart, ready to explode anytime. That's why one should be careful about it, and try to avoid hitting it if possible.

NOW that is just the bad part about threshold. What about the good you may ask.? Well on the other hand, threshold can be a part of something good if you simply shift your perspective about what I just mentioned. Imagine instead of thinking about having a level of your threshold in which your feelings would explode, you simply thought of it as having a high threshold in taking in others joke and not letting it affect. One can think of the banters and jokes as light-hearted and choose to ignore it or not take it to heart (even if one is in a bad mood). This would then mean that one has a high threshold in taking jokes and not letting it affect you as much. It's as simple as that, just change your perspective in how you perceive threshold and limits and that the good and the bad is all up to you. IT'S YOUR CHOICE in how you perceive thresholds. Good can become bad and vice versa. So if one is experiencing negative things, instead of think when you are going to explode, think of it as having high threshold in handling all these negative thoughts and move on with your day.

NOT only can threshold refer to mental, it can also refer to physical. One can have a high threshold in terms of how they react to pain (for example). What's fascinating about this is that pain for example also links to your mind. Imagine if you were in danger where you were shot trying to protect your loved one, however after that there are loved ones about to get shot. Your body would instinctively go beyond the physical threshold of what you perceive pain as and your body will choose to protect the rest of them, where it is simply your mind being so desperate to protect those that you love choosing to neglect the pain that you would have felt in normal situations. Therefore it is fascinating how your mind and body can work in different way even surpassing the threshold and the limit that your mind and body originally set in the first place.

IN conclusion, even a simple word like threshold can hold various meanings, where ultimately it is simply up to the persons perspective on the situation and not only that at times we are unable to control that limit. That fortunately does not necessarily mean that we are unable to control it, its just your human body doing its job. I hope that people will finally decide to wake up and realise that limits and thresholds is something that your brain set up at the start to protect you, but that doesnt mean that you should continue living that way and letting it deterimme how you think and act. If you decide to see things from a different perspective, you will be able to find out more answers that you are able to imagine and that could shine a whole new light in your world. Don't set thresholds for yourself to simply cower away, break those thresholds and set your own ones!
