We all use the word society often, but what is its deeper meaning? Do we know that...? Simply put, society refers to a group of people who live together, depend on each other and are bound by cultural, political and economic ties.
Structure and Functioning of Society:
Social Bonds: There are various types of bonds that hold society together. These include family ties, friendship, trust, love, cooperation etc.
Social Institutions: Society has various institutions to carry out various functions. For example: family, school, religious institution, government etc.
Social Role: Every member of society has a specific role.
Eg: A teacher teaches, a doctor treats patients.
Social Norms: There are certain rules and regulations for the proper functioning of the society. These norms are based on societal values and beliefs.
* Different types of society:
Hierarchical Society: In this type of society people are divided into different classes based on their wealth, power or social status.
Caste Society: In this type of society people are divided into different groups based on their caste or tribe.
Patriarchal Society: In this type of society men enjoy more power and status than women.
Canges in Society:
Society is not static, it is and will be constantly changing.
Society changes for various reasons, such as:
Advancement in Technology: Advancement in technology brings great changes in the way of social life.
Economic Changes: Economic changes affect the social conditions and lifestyle of people.
Political Change: Political change brings changes in the structure and governance of society.
Social Movements: Social movements play an important role in establishing social justice and equality.
Society's problems
In our society there are various problems in the society. For example:
Inequality: Inequality between rich and poor in society, inequality in education, health care etc.
Crime: Various types of crimes occur in society, such as: theft, robbery, murder, etc.
Discrimination: There is discrimination in the society on the basis of caste, religion, gender etc.
Environmental Pollution: The environment is polluted as a result of human activities.
Future of Society:
* The future of society will depend on us. If we value the values of cooperation, love and harmony, we will be able to build a better and happier society.
