Football as a factor of community pride

By ZelinaPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

A few games symbolise the United States like American football. It is more than a game as it demonstrates the national sensitivities of team play, competition and endurance. Friday night lights in small town USA all the way up to the glamor of the Super Bowl, football permeates American society everywhere.

Out of College into Fame, Out of College Fields to Fame

The origination of the sport was through college traditions. Historic games including Michigan vs. Ohio State or Alabama vs. Auburn are still cementing fans of the same generations together. With time the NFL had become a national superstar turning the Sunday afternoons into a family worshipping habit of the nation, of the towns and in the neighborhood.

Cultural Holiday Day Super Bowl

The football is also involved with identity beyond the entertainment. It is community pride, which is particularly related to regions where the victory of a particular team is a constituent of the local image. Football is more of a social occurrence in a state like Texas or Pennsylvania where high school football games represent the heart of the community.

Super Bowl Cultural Holiday

At a bigger scale, the super bowl is the most viewed event in the world, the halftime performance and ads being warmly welcomed as much as the game. It has evolved to be a modern American festival that represents the Sport, business and cultural amalgamation.

Better than a Game

Besides the controversies related to the dimension of safety, commercialization and inclusivity, football can be seen through the U.S. perspective. It represents effort, struggle, and triumph--values that most Americans consider to be part of their identity.
