Leadership has been a huge topic for debates and seminars over the years. Why? People expect to have someone they can trust to bear their interest be the one to decide on how their resources and expertise should be employed. Therefore, the definition of success for any leader is largely hinged on the satisfaction of the expectations of those the have charge over. Thus, given the usual vast nature of organizations and countries, it behoves a wise leader to build systems that can carry his/her plans fashioned to satisfy the people's expectations. Any good system of administration is sustained by people, therefore, in order to build a robust system the leader must carefully SELECT and GROOM all the members of their team, equipping them with the arsenal they would require to bring the plan to fruition. Yet, why do leaders fail?
In a bid to meet the expectations of the greater populus, many leaders fail to see that the success of their plan is sustained by the system they have put in place, and thus, the people in their team. And with this blind side, they inadvertently NULLIFY the system by outrightly DISRESPECTING the delegates they had assigned to certain duties, which they now feel is not properly manned. Now, let's see how this plays out.
As aforementioned, the leader picked his/her team, and thus, is also expected to groom them within his/her vision. So when they begin to undermine the office of a said delegate, who is somewhat not falling in line, they indirectly are undermining their own authority. How? Your system says a lot about your capacity to hold a people and push an agenda, and the only way to push an agenda is to drive it through the inner persons of your team members in such a way that they in turn become the vision bearers; they have become inseparable with the plan. Therefore, when a leader fails in this grooming, UNWISELY, they shoot the blame at the "INCOMPETENCE" of their fellow, inadvertently boring fatal holes in their system of administration. This MISTAKE is commonly expressed when the "boss" exacts activities within the department of one of their delegates without the delegates knowledge, thereby, creating an environment for suspicion, distrust, backbiting and malice; with these in place the boss now losses influence over that delegate and the department as a whole. Why? Simple! Now, it becomes a power grab competition, could be a cold war or an outright face-off, but now the majority have lost sight of THE PLAN. This hostile and now toxic environment fosters the propagation of a rigid, vicious regime which is intolerant and insecure, thus, leading to a highly publicized failure of the said leader.
Therefore, a leader must always be sober and level headed, and definitely not impulsive. They must be patient to work on their team members, and if they find that one of their fellows shows no prospect of alignment, it is wise they reassign them RESPECTFULLY. Remember, we will always need each other, someone might not be profitable today but I assure you nothing is a coincidence, they surely will be profitable to you in another encounter. Do not deride your fellow of their dignity to prove a point; the only point you would have proven is your lack of understanding and insight into how life works. Be empathetic! You know, call a dog bad and you might as well kill it; people don't respond well to ridicule.
So, if you must succeed in giving those you lead an excellent satisfaction to what they desire of you, you must value and uplift your inner circle. It won't kill you to be respectful and nice to those who follow you, to honour them and care for them. It won't belittle you; besides the greatest among the team is the servant. On the other hand, destroying their perception of their self worth will kill you.
Be good! Stay blessed!
