Israel-Hamas war Highlights: Iran warns Israel of regional escalation if attacks on Palestinians don't stop

The ongoing conflict between Hamas terrorists and Israeli troops has killed over 3,500 on both sides of the Gaza Strip. While 1,300 people were killed in the unexpected onslaught in Israel, the retaliatory bombardment on the Gaza Strip killed more than 2,200 people.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) vowed an attack on Hamas terrorists with "greater force", even as its strikes continued in the Gaza Strip. The troops are preparing for a ground assault, hitting back at an unprecedented assault on its territory by Hamas men last weekend. Residents in northern Gaza were given a 3-hour deadline to move to the south.

Lebanon's Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a missile attack on Israel's Shtula, a farming community, that killed one civilian and injured three others. Following this, the Israeli military said it was striking in Lebanon in retaliation and it declared a zone within 4 km (2 miles) of the Lebanese border off-limits to public access.

On Sunday, Israeli forces announced that they had killed Billal al-Qedra, a top commander of the Nukhba force, Hamas's elite military wing, in their air raids in Gaza on Saturday night.

The Israel Defence Force (IDF) had earlier announced that they are prepared for a "coordinated" attack in the Gaza Strip involving air, ground, and naval forces.

The Biden administration confirmed that it is sending the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower's aircraft carrier strike group headed to the eastern Mediterranean to support Israel. The Eisenhower will join the USS Gerald R. Ford strike force already near Israel.

Meanwhile, Iran warned of "far-reaching consequences" if Israeli bombing did not stop. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh met Iran's foreign minister in Qatar on Saturday to discuss the Palestinian group's attacks on Israel and agreed to continue cooperation to achieve the group's goals, Hamas said in a statement.
