She Said Happy New Years!
10 Years of The Written Writ

Ten years ago we formed BittenappleTV to showcase the little guys with the big dreams. To let them share all about their projects. To also run around the Tri State Area and beyond showing off all the events and things around. Taking a Bite out of the Apple and sharing it with you.
We were all going to do projects and shows and I chose The Written Writ. A show where you and I and I and you take a journey together to become better writers.
The first writers prompt to start off my prerecorded show was She Said Happy New Years! Made sense, my show would kick off January 2016 so a new years themed Writers Prompt and show was just up my alley.
So I sat down wrote a short with the prompt and just to add challenge dropped the word Flabbergasted into it. With that began the journey of showing writing and how we can all be writers. Hoping I could do all that by taking you all along for my own writing journey.
So I ask you as I did back then what’s your story for
She Said Happy New Years
And here is what I came up with.
———————————————————————-
“Happy new years!”
I heard coming from up above me. The crowd on the boardwalk was busy celebrating. Here i laid in the cold wet sand my life's essence pouring out of me. Right above me i could hear life teasing me with false happiness as the revelers partied. I didn't care, I could die right here and finally be at peace.
“They wont see it coming. Yeah she can take care of her self but they wont see it coming.”
The voice in the back of my head wouldn't let me be.
“You have a choice to make. Yeah you have been given a bad deal but thats life. Its not their fault and you cant let them pay for whats happened to you.”
He was right, he made sense
“Get up! Choose to fight! Forget how tired you are. Do the right thing because its the right thing to do. Decide to live and make the world a better place. Make the change you are looking for.”
Slowly I forced myself up, the blood poured from the bullet wound. It felt warm as it traveled down, the cold dissipating as the blood washed over the skin. I rose to my feet and staggered into the cold night. Then I heard it, a woman screamed, a man stared at me flabbergasted as I emerged, like some zombie from underneath the boardwalk. A cop came running to me i collapsed into his arms. I tried to speak but only a whisper came out. I said
“You have to Send help to my office, he is going to kill them and they aren't going to know he's planning to. My brother... they trust him... dont let him kill them... she cant protect the child if she doesn't know he's not who she thinks he is. 54 water street he’s on the way..”
I start to fade but at that moment i decide to live. I decide to change the world. I pray that they can save them from a brother i trusted so. A brother that left me for dead. A brother that meant the world to me.
I can still see him holding the gun a smile on his face. He shot with no remorse with not even a flinch. Just walked away saying,
“Don’t worry the others will join you soon. The year will begin and the world will end.”
The smile is what eats at me he shot me with a smile on his face. I’m coming for you brother… I’m coming for you.

Hope you all like it let me know what you think. I added a couple of bits from the original.
Here is to 10 more years Of Bittenappletv of this writers journey, of showing off all the amazing peoples and talents and projects that are out there.

There’s something quietly powerful about how a simple phrase like “Happy New Years” becomes a marker for time, beginnings, and intention. The reflection feels genuine and grounded, like being invited into a memory rather than just reading about it. I especially appreciated the sense of optimism mixed with realism…it captures that fragile moment where hope is forming but not fully defined yet. This was a comforting and thoughtful read, and it made me pause and reflect on my own beginnings. Thank you for sharing it and of course happy new year!
