I live in a different continent from where I was born. And there is a side of me that gets sad every time I leave, every time I find myself heading in a direction far from home, my family, my friends, my loved ones, what is known for me.
I am very proud to say that I am Brazilian, that I wear white on New Year's Eve, that I salute Yemanjá and jump seven waves in the sea. I am proud of our human warmth, our cultural heritage, our wisdom of plants, our love for nature. That we are a diverse culture in all the ways, that I don't look like most of all the other people from there.
I don't know how to explain in words what took me away from all this, but I know that something is pulling me to distant waters, perhaps to spread our brightness there.
Thank you Brazil, thank you friends, loved ones and family (chosen and blood), that every visit is full of love, joy, salt and sun. I hope to be back very soon.

Currently on my postdoc, I've been studying Chemistry over 13 years, but the only thing that kept me going was journaling my feelings, writing poems and drawing on my notebooks. Now, I finally decide to share a bit here. Hope you enjoy :)
