Radha Damodar Temple Vrindavan History

Radha Damodar Temple is located in Vrindavan. The temple has great religious importance in Vrindavan's history and is closely associated with the Gaudiya Vaishnav tradition and culture. The temple is devoted to Lord Krishna's Damodar form and Radha Rani.

The temple was built in 1542 by Srila Jiva Goswami who was a follower of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu started to spread the philosophy of Krishna Bhakti. It is believed that the image of Lord Damodar was given to Jiva Goswami by his guru, Srila Rupa Goswami personally and hence It is one of the famous temples in Vrindavan and the temple is a highly revered shrine for devotees of Krishna.

Main attraction of the temple is Giriraj Shila which is a Govardhan hill sacred stone with the divine footprints of Lord Krishna imprinted on it. The pilgrims hold that a parikrama of this shila which is believed to be as spiritually as completing the Govardhan Hill parikarma and do special Govardhan Pooja. This has made the temple a pilgrimage site of convenience for pilgrims who are unable to make the trip to Govardhan Hill.

Radha Damodar Temple Timings

The Radha Damodar Temple is open daily for the devotess. This temple follows a strict schedule.

Morning: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Evening: 4:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Mangala Aarti: You can participate in early morning prayers that starts before sunrise.

Darshan: The temple opens for devotees to have a darshan of Radha and Lord Damodar throughout the day.

Sandhya Aarti: Sandhya means evening. Evening prayers performed as the sun sets which creates a peaceful and devotional atmosphere.

Shayan Aarti: Shayan aarti occurs at night in which bhog offered before the deities are put to rest.

How to Do Seva at Radha Damodar Temple?
