Past Year and Future Intentions

This past year on Vocal, I have seen my true creativity. In 2023 alone, I wrote 16 stories. In total, I have written 58. I’m the type of writer that gets a feeling and I take it and run with it. I had a lot of emotions and thoughts running through my mind in 2023 and I went straight to Microsoft Word and just started typing.

This year will be no different from the last. Once my “gears start grinding” as I call it, before I know it, I’m have written 600 words or more and I look at the screen and to myself, I say, wow because I can’t believe those thoughts came from me. I really surprise myself when I write my stories and I have to take a breather after writing them.

The first time I wrote a story, I thought it would be my last time but here I am, 57 stories later. It’s just amazing to see how my mind can go from a simple thought to a story. I believe in myself a lot more than I did when I first started, and my skills have gotten better now. I have become mature in my writing.

I don’t have anything I need to work on. My stats fluctuate because people take my stories the wrong way. They may think I’m harsh or being negative but that’s not the vibe I want them to have. But I won’t change my writing style because it will confuse the fans I do have. The “real” readers as I call them because they understand where I’m coming from when they read the stories.

The reason I keep writing is because I’m honest about life. One of my stories may help someone understand something or provide clarity. Some people just like to read. Either way, the story had a purpose. Everything in life has a purpose. Sometimes, we don’t know the purpose; but there is one. I feel good knowing that people are reading my stories, no matter what the reason may be.

I think that horror is a good genre to read about. The thought of fictional characters, like Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees are very motivating. In fact, I wrote one story based on my experiences with Nightmare on Elm Street. I thought it was a crazy concept at first, but apparently, it wasn’t.

I chose to write about Freddy Krueger because Nightmare on Elm Street was the only movie series with a consistent character. I’m the type of person that likes consistency when writing. I don’t like for my story concept to be in one place and then go way out in left field.

Last year was an emotional year for me so I know that this year will be a creative year for me. I still have my creative touch combined with new thoughts; this will increase my productivity. The first few days of the new year were not good for me so that’s a start. Bad luck is an understatement. I don’t know what to call it.

I am looking forward to this year to see what I can come up with. I have already have new ideas but I haven’t connected the ideas together. But I know it won’t be long before I do. Before I know it, I will have a new story. It doesn’t take long for me to compose my thoughts. It’s only a matter of time. I have a concept, but I just haven’t come up with words just yet. I’m brainstorming at this very moment. Full speed ahead!
