Nothing Without you
It was 11:30 at night. Raindrops sparkled under the city lights, as if the sky too was drenched in some silent sorrow. A lonely girl sat at the bus stop — her name was Sehar. In her hands was her phone, and in her eyes was that final message she had read again and again:
"Sehar, we can't be together anymore. You're a wonderful person, but we're not meant for each other."
These words had pierced straight through her heart. The most painful moment of her life. Drenched in rain, she was shedding silent tears. To others, it looked like the weather's mist — but in truth, it was her heart breaking into pieces.
---
The Beginning of Love
Sehar and Ali had met during their first year of university. Sehar was a quiet soul, deeply fond of poetry and literature. She preferred silence and was always lost in books. One day, she was reading Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poetry in the library when Ali sat down in front of her and asked:
“Do you read Faiz from the heart or just for the syllabus?”
Sehar looked up, slightly startled, then smiled faintly. “Faiz wrote for hearts, not for coursebooks.”
And so began a conversation — which turned into friendship.
Ali was cheerful, humorous, and open-hearted. Sehar was serious, sensitive, and introverted.
Ali's words were full of life; he saw the world through a different lens. Slowly, their meetings increased — the university corridors, a certain café corner, a favorite table in the library — all became witnesses to their growing bond.
---
The Depth of Silent Love
Sehar loved Ali deeply — but never said it out loud. She never demanded anything — not confessions, promises, or dreams of a future. She only wished for Ali’s happiness.
Her love was silent, but intense.
One day, Ali fell ill. Sehar spent the entire day preparing notes for him in the library. When Ali asked, “Why did you do all this?” she simply said:
“In love, you don’t ask why.”
Ali remained silent for a while and then smiled. But Sehar never knew — that behind that smile, there might be someone else.
---
Ali's Change
It was the final year of university. Ali had become distant, more distracted, less present. He replied to messages late — or sometimes not at all. Meetings became rare, and conversations grew formal.
One day, Sehar mustered the courage and asked:
“Are we still what we used to be?”
Ali avoided her gaze and replied:
“Sehar, life is moving forward. Jobs, responsibilities, the future... And to be honest, maybe we were just friends — nothing more.”
Her heart shattered. She smiled and said:
“Yes, maybe it was just my misunderstanding.”
But that wasn’t a smile — it was a veil for her tears.
---
The Message of Separation
A few days later, Sehar received the message that said it all:
"I’m with someone else now. You’re special, but we can’t be together."
It felt as though everything collapsed in a single moment. Sehar didn’t reply. No accusations. No curses. No pleading.
She just went quiet — breaking slowly inside.
---
The Pain of Tonight
And tonight… Sehar saw Ali’s engagement photo on Instagram. He was smiling, happy, at peace — with someone else.
Sehar sat at the bus stop, soaked in the rain, reading that last message over and over again.
She looked up at the sky, as if her heart wanted someone to hear its pain.
“If love is true, it gives silent prayers even in separation.”
Her phone died. Her eyes closed. But in her heart, one prayer remained:
“Stay happy, Ali. My love never wanted to imprison you — it only wanted to set you free.”
---
Love Never Ends
Sehar is alone now — but not weak. She rebuilt herself. She returned to her books. She learned to love herself again.
Ali was a chapter in her life — not the whole book.
Her love didn’t die; it simply became a quiet corner in her heart, where only silent prayers live.
There is everything… but nothing, without you.
