My Writing Journey Tips
New Year, Time To Write Baby!
I can’t tell you how I feel about this year. I been struggling to write and make some of myself, but I think, I think I am going to go full force with my writing journey. I have nothing to lose. I been writing this book and I been stuck and I been struggling hard to write it, but I need to write. So, this year, I am going to go in and hard at writing.
This is one big creative project I am going to finish. I want to finish by June 9th it’s my parent’s anniversary and I want this book to come out then. What this book is about? Well, I could give you the description of the book. Which I will, of course. Here’s the description of my book.
“This was supposed to be the best day of Nyla’s life, she was going to marry the one person she thought was the one, so she thought. Until he leaves her at the altar. To make matter worst, he sleeps with her best friend, Paris and leaves her in debt. After two years, she’s ready to date. Nyla takes on her cousin’s advice to get back out there. After two bad dates, Nyla thinks she’s done with love, yet a chance encounter with the charming and attractive Jae Lee could be exactly what Nyla needs to finally move on. Could this be the start of a new chapter in Nyla's life?”
I have created numerous books covers and I went through countless of sleepless and mental breakdowns to even have the motivation to write. That’s why I decided to come up with some ideas about what I need to do start off the year right with my writing and how to accomplish this. Get ready it’s a list and plus some personal tips that I try to give myself.
I been using and reading Books
• Save the Cat! Writes A Novel….
• The Writer’s Journal
• The Only Plotting Workbook….
• There’s more but I’ll link the books down below.
Keep Writing
• Nothing is wrong with just writing. I have a problem with trying to write and then edit at the same time, which isn’t bad, but it hinders the imagination. So. Write. Even it’s bad. Just write.
Time
• STOP! I said stop for a reason. Wait before you stop me. If you plan a schedule to write it helps. Well in my case, time management isn’t really a umm….Never mind that, just plan a schedule to write. Like if you work Monday-Friday…then write on Sunday or Saturday, or both. If you work seven days a week, well then write in between days. If you catch my drift. (Lol...eh. okay not really funny I tried.)
• LIMIT DISTRACTIONS.
Tips
• When it comes to writing, just be consistent with it, it doesn’t have to be everyday but just be consistent.
• Don’t worry about the “little problems.” This means don’t worry about whether it’s good or not. Sometimes, when we write, it makes us feel good and excited that someone is reading our work. However, it doesn’t necessarily provide the support we look for, leading to self doubt. ALWAYS remember the reasons that led us to write in the first place.
- Writing Prompts is a good way to combat writer’s block. I have many books on that.
Writing Apps
• Werdsmith. I used this app. Great App. I love it. (Pay for a subscription.)
• Writing Prompts Daily. Great app. I don’t really use much but it’s better than the other ones on the app store
• Faible. Now here’s the deal with that... Its AI but still you’re in control of the story and it helps with characterization and story plot.
