My Partner Is My Best Friend
Rupi Kaur's Relationships Writing Prompts
Creating a healthy relationship with yourself and others leads to a fulfilling life. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself. Take a deep breath. Shuffle the deck. Pull a card. Write your heart out. Rupi Kaur
We ride together
in all the weather
happiness follows
We see swallows
and other birds lay
in wait to fly along the way.
We love riding
it is fun and freeing
what we will be seeing
Let's ride every day!
Rupi Kaur’s Relationships Writing Prompts — How do you see your relationship with your best friend changing over the next ten years?
In our 80s we will be slowing down. Our abilities and minds won't be as sharp. What we can do will continue to be limited. Loved ones will die and get old along with us. We expect to have way more great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren. One of my friends is expecting her first.
One of us may not make it into our 80s. I'm expecting that to be me. Too many health concerns already. I'm not giving up, it is just reality. I believe I have way more to do before I go anywhere. I wrote about dying this morning. That may be stuck with me yet in writing this.
We talked about getting a tattoo this morning, and that goes along with this prompt also. So, let's move on and live on.
Rupi Kaur’s Relationships Writing Prompts — In what unexpected ways has a partner shown up for you?
Oops, my first thought was when I had cancer, and when I broke my arm. He was right there and stayed by my side the entire time. Through the worst part and rehabilitation.
I never thought anything of that until as we were on the other end of the cancer experience, the doctor said, "Many couples divorce or separate while going through this. It is hard. I'm glad you didn't!"
Rupi Kaur’s Relationships Writing Prompts — You and your best friend want to get friendship tattoos. What will they look like?
Motorcycles. We both have only one tattoo now. I was talked into one by my niece, as my daughter, my niece, and my grandson's new wife were all getting the same tattoo. It was small and I could put it wherever I wanted. Now we just need to think about where it would go and do the deed.
Our conversation was interesting about tattoos and I didn't think it would be so easy. We both think that would be okay. I always think I won't be able to continue to ride and then I can and love it. I have been given motorcycle wood designs and metal motorcycle art and the hubby always claims them as his.
When I think about it, of course, he would not want me to get a motorcycle tattoo without him getting one too.

Oooo, a motorcycle tattoo sounds cool! What design do you already have tattooed?
Just keep thinking family and you will feel better and, in a way, getting that tattoo will help too. Great job.
Beautiful poem. And I hope you get healthy! ❤️💙
