My Experience Using the New ChatGPT Logo Generator

Creating a quality company logo is one of the most important aspects of branding a business. However, designing a unique, fitting logo may be both difficult and time-consuming. The ChatGPT Logo Generator is a tool that aims to alleviate this challenge, by combining AI with user inputs to generate custom logos.

Why is choosing the right logo type important?

Logos are often a customer’s first impression of a business. They may have certain design features that can either attract or repel target customers, so it is crucial for businesses to have a professional logo that aligns with their brand identity while also attracting the right audience. Similarly, logos contribute to brand recognition. Having a unique, memorable logo can establish customer trust over time, laying a strong foundation for business growth.

Using the ChatGPT Logo Generator

When visiting the website, users will see this homepage below. To begin, I typed a short description of a food truck business I created for my entrepreneurship school project, the Espresso Express Food Truck. I briefly described how the food truck would sell caffeinated drinks at college campuses.

Next, the website prompted me to select the type of logo I wanted to create. I selected the Cartoon/Mascot Logo because having a character associated with my food truck business may be more fun and memorable for college students/faculty members. After also selecting sample designs I liked, these were a few of the logos generated.

Generating More Personalized Logos

To have more control over the output of the logos generated, the website offers many additional options for user input. One example is by using the AI Edit option for any individual logo that was generated.

Using the AI Edit option with the second logo generated (cow logo), I tested the feature with both a vague and a specific command. The first time I commanded it to “make the cow look like a college student”. The logo on the left is the one generated for the vague command. The second time, I commanded it to “turn the cow into a coffee bean”, “give it a backpack”, “make it hold a pencil”, and “make the truck pink/brown”. The logo on the right is the one generated for the specific command.

Based on my two different commands, you can tell that the AI Edit feature is a very useful tool for modifying the previously generated logos. However, just like any other AI tool, for more desirable results it is better to be specific in the language that you use.

Another example of how users can have more control over the logos generated is by using the Sample Design feature on the homepage. This feature allows users to add references of other logos/designs, so that the AI generated logos can be something similar.

Using the same description as earlier, I attached a logo that I had previously designed for the business myself on Canva (shown below).

After using both my description and the logo I designed myself, these were a couple of the logos generated by the website.

Using the first logo above (blue background), I further customized it by using the AI Edit feature and telling it to “make the background look like a college campus, specifically the University of Virginia (UVA)”. It successfully modified the background and depicted the Rotunda building, which is found on the main lawn of the UVA campus.

By using both the Sample Design and AI Edit features, I was able to generate a logo that was similar to the one I had already created, but also had additional features that better reflected my brand identity.

General Website Feedback

As a whole, I had a great experience using the ChatGPT Logo AI website. It is straightforward and easy-to-understand, generating multiple logo designs within minutes to choose from.

The website was especially user-friendly, providing several opportunities for users to modify generated logos to their satisfaction. The Sample Design attachment and AI Edit option are both convenient ways for users to direct the AI algorithm towards producing a more desired output.

This website would be a great tool for not only start-up entrepreneurs, but also for students to use in their projects because it efficiently develops logo ideas for any given business (real or theoretical), without any design experience necessary.

However, after comparing ChatGPT Logo AI to other popular AI logo generators online, I believe there are some improvements that could be made to make the ChatGPT Logo AI website more intuitive and stand out against competitors in the same AI Logo industry.

To begin, if possible I think it would be nice for the algorithm to produce logos that are less identical to the logos selected or provided by users. For example, when I attached the logo I created myself on Canva, the logos that were generated were practically the exact same design, just with a different set of colors. It was not until I used the AI Edit feature that more distinct, unique logos were generated. Similarly, another time after I selected the blue lion Vortex logo below, one of the logos generated included the exact same lion, even though the lion does not relate much to the overall image of my food truck business. I like how the website truly follows the designs selected, but I believe the results would be more special if the overall layout was followed rather than each specific element.

Another improvement that I think users would appreciate is being allowed to choose a color scheme for the generated logos to follow, which other popular AI logo generators such as Design.com, Looka, and LogoMakr all provide. Businesses follow color palettes that their logos should reflect, so I think a color option is a necessary feature. For example, the color palette for my Espresso Express food truck business is pink and brown, so being able to choose those colors before generating the logos would have been beneficial.

Lastly, a small improvement that could be made is allowing users to delete logos from the page that showcases all logos generated. This way users are less likely to feel overwhelmed, and they can narrow down the list of logos into only their favorites.

Overall, I think the ChatGPT Logo AI website was thoughtfully designed and is valuable for producing professional logos, even without any of the improvements I stated above. However, I think with the addition of these improvements, the website may be more appealing to users and have more of a competitive advantage in the expanding AI industry.
