Life in Expat in Kuwait

Life in Kuwait & Our Summer Plans

By Camie Ayash Published 8 months ago 2 min read

As my final days in my role at the school draw to a close, I’ve found myself reflecting on life here in Kuwait—its vibrant culture, the rhythm of our daily routines, and the small but meaningful rituals that make this place home. From the early morning school bell to the warmth of community gatherings, there’s something unique about the blend of tradition and modernity that defines life in Kuwait.

The school year always seems to move quickly once we hit spring. Between final exams, student performances, and transition planning, the days blur together. This year, however, has felt different. With my last official working day approaching on June 4, there’s a bittersweet finality to everything. Still, I’m looking forward to a summer that promises a slower pace and new adventures.

Our Summer Plans

After a busy academic year, the idea of slowing down is a welcome one. Here’s what we have in mind for summer:

Staycation Moments: Kuwait might be hot in the summer, but there are still hidden gems to enjoy indoors. We’re planning on exploring more of the city’s museums and cultural centers—places we often overlook during the school year.

Family Time & Beach Walks: Early morning or late evening walks by the beach will give us time to reconnect, away from screens and schedules. Even a simple outing for ice cream by the sea feels like a mini escape.

Quick Getaway (Maybe?): We’re keeping the option open for a short trip—maybe to a nearby destination like Oman or Turkey, depending on schedules and flights. Nothing extravagant, just a change of scenery.

Creative Projects at Home: Whether it’s journaling, DIY crafts, or cooking up new recipes, we want to use this time to recharge creatively. I’m also hoping to continue writing more—perhaps more frequent blog posts, or even something longer-form.

Transition Support: Though I’ve officially stepped down, I’ll still be available to support the team during the summer and at the start of the next academic year. It’s important to me that things transition smoothly.

Life in Kuwait has taught me a lot about resilience, flexibility, and finding beauty in the everyday. As we move into summer, my goal is simple: to be present, to rest well, and to appreciate the people and places that make this life meaningful.
