KITTY PARTY

It been a real rush rush day for Sheila today, with getting up at 6a.m. preparing the kids lunch, her husband’s lunch then breakfast for all and then cooking lunch for her mother-in-law and by 11 am she is worn out.

Taking a breather, she decides to relax and watch some serial on TV but her eyes are aching and she decides to put some cold cucumber on her eyes and sleep for a while, just then the phone rings.

Hey Sheila whats’s up??? What are you doing, yelled Jyoti from the other end, Nothing yaar replied Sheila just dead tired running around since morning … Listen I have just joined a Kitty Party in my society and today is our first kitty why don’t you join us …it will be a change for you and it will be fun.

Sheila is about to refuse the invitation when she decides she needs a break and say fine… Great replies Jyoti will pick you up around 1pm.

Sheila goes to her bedroom and opening her wardrobe to decide what to wear, and takes out a pink saree as Jyoti told her it was a pink day today, Oh she suddenly exclaims, “I don’t have a matching purse and shoes to go with my saree what to do…” Out pops out her phone and she click on Amazon and scrolls through the purse and shoe gallery and orders them, thinking today I will manage somehow but I must have matching shoes and purses for future kitties.

At exactly 1p.m. Jyoti arrives and Sheila leaves for the party excited as a small kid out for a party. They reach the venue on time and Sheila is happy to see so many lively, smiling and happy faces welcoming her and her face glows with the compliments she gets from all.

Soon, the leader of the group shouts,” Ok girls let’s start the Kitty with Tambola, the number game, which was fun filled and Sheila was happy she won 100 Rs.

Then they all sit down for lunch, when Aisha shows off her new dress to all, “You know I bought it specially for the kitty “It is gorgeous another replies, how much did it cost? Aisha smiles and replies “just 50,000/-“What screams Lata, You spent 50,000 just to wear it for the kitty, you are mad”

Actually, it is was a gift from my mother-in law, she just adores me says I am her right hand and depends on me for every little thing, I please her and do as she say and in return, she loads me with gifts.

The “Saas-Bahu” and “Servants “are the best topics in any kitty, you know Aisha you are very lucky to have such a mother-in-law say Ruchi, mine keeps asking and never gives anything, and my husband being a mama’s boy sides her and never stands by me.

Suddenly Lalita screams in her shrilly voice, “Neha that’s a solid solitaire you got on your finger, lucky you, I have been after Pradeep for a solitaire and he keeps saying next year “ Oh thanks replies Neha, flaunting her solitaire it is a gift from Sandeep, he always brings me jewelry when he travels abroad and is now more knowledgeable than me.

Soon lunch arrives, and all conversation takes a break as all seem to be enjoying the lavish spread of paneer pakoda, dal makhini,parathas ..

Sheena who is trying to get everyone’s attention suddenly says, “ You know what yesterday I got my first Keratin Treatment for my hair and I am loving it, others all look at her with amazement some hiding their disappointment too.

Nandini compliments her and says “Sheena you should download the “Urban App” on your mobile they are really good, you don’t need to step out to a parlour , they bring all the stuff and give you a lovely makeover… there is one more app similar to this says Maya it called “ Yes Madam”

Sheila is excited and glowing with all the information she is getting from her new friends today and I glad she joined the kitty.

Hey Deepa, I heard you bought a new flat in a posh locality and you never told us the, watchman of the society told me, not fair, where’s the party??

Deepa smiled and laughed and replied,” soon maybe the next kitty can be at my new place once it’s all done up” Yes’s cried all the ladies and clapped their hands.

Soon they play some more games, and Sheila reminisces her young days and she feels the inner child in her enjoying it too. She decides that from now on she is going to enjoy her life and keep some spare time for such activities. She wants to be a part of these childish games, high society talks, silly conversations, show off her stuff etc and indulge in all that these ladies are doing .

She returns home excited, satisfied and looks forward to the next kitty and begins planning for the same in her mind as she enters the kitchen to cook dinner .
