Is a Vocal Conference Possible?

“Vocalize” would be a great name for a Vocal conference.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a Vocal conference and meet our fellow contributors in person? I know—we’re all over the world, so multiple locations would be necessary, but I think it can be done. I envision a conference in several different parts of the world, connected virtually. I envision groups based on communities with workshops and challenges.

Creative people feed off of each other’s energy in a positive way, each contributing their own energy and ideas, which are enhanced through sharing with other creative people. The writers’ conferences I’ve attended have been wonderful experiences with brilliant keynote speakers (Edward Albee and Ray Bradbury are two I have been blessed to hear read their own work and give advice to writers).

While the workshops, readings, and feedback are wonderful, it’s the community that I find most valuable.

Every time I attend one, I leave full of new ideas and new (to me) perspectives that I find have a positive impact on my work. In addition to that, there’s the absolute exhilaration of being in a closed room of creative people; being free of the distraction and company of mundane, non-creative people. It’s so liberating to take a break from the drudgery of everydayness.

Someone with far greater organizational skills than I possess would have to take charge of this, but what do y’all think? Wouldn’t it be fantastic to meet in person in a safe space?

I absolutely love this idea! There’s something truly special about being surrounded by people who share your creative energy. Online connections are wonderful, but meeting in person adds a whole new level of inspiration and motivation. A global conference with local hubs sounds like such an exciting and meaningful way to bring the community together!

I do love this idea, meeting like-minded people in person can be so powerful and rewarding. I do my schooling online, our classes are virtual, and it just feels so disconnected, we had an in person session and it was so much fun and I got to be friends with classmates that I never realized I would enjoy so much.

We could use an online platform for this...
