Imagine a life without education. To some, that might be a paradise without homework, free of stress. But in reality, taking away the hard process of learning might actually make our life harder.
What do we learn in school? Most of us have subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and etcetera. Sure, one might say that most of this knowledge cannot be put to use in life, but I would counter that argument by saying that it is more than just that.
At the lower years, what do we learn? Our teachers teach us about addition, subtraction, verbs and vowels and mammals and reptiles. In this process, they also teach us how to treat one another well and with respect.
At the upper years, what do we learn? Our tutors teach us about tangent, sine and cosine, the analysis of literary texts and chemical formulas. In this process, they also teach us why we should treat one another well and with respect.
For those who will have advanced education, much knowledge will come. Along with this would instill a sense of independence, decision-making and confidence.
At the end of the day, what do we do with our knowledge? We find out what we strong in, and get a job based on that strength. For a selected few of us, we continue studying and perhaps one day create new knowledge.
After all, education isn’t all just about knowledge. It is also about the process of developing to be a better person for society, for yourself.
Without education, what can we achieve? Of course, even without education, we can achieve but education allows us to do just that as well, only more.
Remember, knowledge is power. And with this power, we can achieve great things.
