Peak/off-peak are the charges for 3-phase users — winter 5–9pm, summer 7–11pm — where unit rates are very high (Rs44–48/unit) and off‑peak Rs35–40. Using heavy appliances between 5–9pm in winter and 7–11pm in summer results in the mysterious cancellation of the bill a shocking shock.
