Khajuraho is located in Madhya Pradesh and it is a historical town with group of temples dedicated to the Hindu and Jain Deities. The temples were built between 950 and 1050 AD. There were used to have 85 temples but now only around 20 to 22 left. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is known as known as the Khajuraho Group of Monuments. Some of the famous temples are Kandariya Mahadev Temple, the Lakshmana Temple and the Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Hindu Deities.

Delhi to Khajuraho Distance

Delhi to Khajuarho distance is approximately 630 kilometers which takes around 12 to 14 hours by National Highway (NH) 44. The road connects from Delhi to Gwalior and Jhansi, from there you can take a straight road to Khajuraho.

How to Reach Khajuraho from Delhi?

By Bus

You can take a bus service from Delhi to Khajuraho. The journey by bus takes approx. 14 to 16 hours depending on the traffic, road and weather condition. You can book tickets through applications and website available such as RedBus, MakeMyTrip and Zingbus. You might get extra discount if you book a service from their website.

By Train

For more relaxing journey. Trains are the best and comfortable options to choose from. The train departs from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. It takes about 12 to 14 hours to travel by train.

By Air

If you do not have much time and you prefer comfort over money. It would be suggested to travel by air. It takes only 1.5 hours to reach Khajuraho by air. You can take flight from Indira Gandhi National Airport.

Famous Places in Khjauraho

Khajuraho is famous for its rich heritage and temples but not just temples but khajuraho is divide into four groups, namely, Western group, Eastern group, Northern group and Southern group. Each group has temples dedicated to various deities.

Western Group of Temples – In the western group of temples you will find temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and other deities. The Kandariya Mahadev Temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva while Lakshmana Temple is dedicated to the Lakshmana who was the brother of Lord Rama.

Eastern Group of Temples - Eastern Group of Temples located away from the main temple complex. It includes Jain temples. You can visit Adinatha Temple and the Parsvanatha Temple.

Northern Group of Temples - Northern Group of Temples has included temples dedicated to the Lord Vishnu. The famous temple is Chaturbhuj Temple which has a 9 foot-high statue of Lord Vishnu.

Southern Group of Temples - Southern Group of Temples is not as famous as other groups but the famous temples that you can visit is Duladeo Temple which is dedicated to the Lord Shiva.

Raneh Falls – Raneh fals is located 20 kms from Khajuraho. The waterfall is formed by the Ken River. Being not so famous, this places is less crowded and a perfect spot to spend evening with your family in Khajuraho.

Khajuraho holds diverse history and rich culture. Those mentioned places are just a glimpse of Khajraho, you can explore many such places.
