Can I Use the Same AD Code for Different Ports?

Every port has its own customs office, and if your AD Code is not associated with that particular port, then the customs system will reject your shipping bill.

If you are an Indian exporter or want to diversify your export business to various ports, you may ask: Can I use the same AD Code for different ports?

Single AD Code, Several Ports – Legal or Not?

Yes, you can use the same AD Code number for several ports, but there is a catch. The AD Code is registered individually in each port where you plan to export from.

For instance:

If you received an AD Code from HDFC Bank and got it registered for Nhava Sheva (JNPT), and now you also wish to export from Mundra Port, then you need to register the same AD Code once again on ICEGATE for Mundra Port.

Why is Port-Wise Registration Mandatory?

Every port has its own customs office, and if your AD Code is not associated with that particular port, then the customs system will reject your shipping bill.

This is where exporters need to register the same AD Code individually for each new port they want to utilize.

Documents Required for New Port Registration

  • Copy of AD Code Letter from Bank
  • IEC Certificate
  • Authority Letter
  • Bank Certificate (In prescribed format)
  • Digital Signature (DSC)
