Another Gorgeous Lonely Day

He wakes up early to grab someone not there,

The loneliness sets in so he’ll open insta and float away,

On another gorgeous lonely day.

Hekeeps scrolling and looking blankly at the door,

A car door slams but it can’t be her, she’s half a world away,

He gets excited anyway as his eyes start to glaze over,

He’s missed her so much as he glances over at a table set for two,

Unable to even make himself dinner without the loneliness taking hold,

He keeps waiting for her to walk through the door,

To spice up his life and take a trip away,

Nothings gone right except for her, but now she’s away and it all sinks in,

Another wasted day, it’s all gone to hell,

It’s hard to stay positive anymore,

So he’ll turn on the TV and float away,

On this, another gorgeous lonely day.

He tried to take a walk to clear his mind,

It only made things worse as he passes memories on the road,

He needs to hold her again, he simply feels empty,

His phone lights up, a text, she says she’s doing well, keeping busy,

He’s waited all day to get this communication,

There’s something about her though, simply seeing her name makes his face light up,

She’s off to bed now, had a busy day,

A quick I love you and away she goes,

He imagines her all curled up in bed,

Looking as beautiful as ever as relaxation sweeps over her,

He cuddles up to a blanket on the couch and tries not to lose it,

Maybe another beer to calm the nerves,

He’s tipsy now, and flips through shows they used to share,

Nothings fun, nothings interesting, he’s lost his drive,

He’s an empty shell without her, fighting apathy with TV and drink,

But a beer won’t cause the loneliness to go away,

So he decides to go to bed where he sits and thinks,

She’s not really gone, he knows that,

But he longs to see her, touch her, taste her,

His dreams are wild and erratic but always focus on her.
