Self-love is the road toward healing. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself. Rupi Kaur

Self-love is being kind and compassionate to me. Nurturing and loving as I would be to my significant other. Working on building my self esteem. Not allowing others to mistreat me. Being my own friend. All of this is self-love.

Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — To compress, I'd like to dedicate more time to _________________.

Isn't this to decompress? Well I will go with dedicating more time to taking better care of myself and getting better at self-love. An example of better care is a friend and I went to find a salon to get our nails done. It didn't matter finger nails, toe nails or both.

Three salons were booked out one month. We didn't look further. Did I make an appointment? No. That was the beginning of summer and it is now August. Did I keep looking? No.

Another example is my daughter and I were going for a massage. She had to reschedule and we never did reschedule yet and I didn't go by myself. That was in the spring.

And I hate bringing up exercise but here goes - I am not doing exercise regularly as I have planned and committed to. I keep setting a date and no follow through. It is not anything too tough to start as I know to start slow on some things.

I have hesitated to get a buddy to give me accountability. What is wrong with that? I know my husband would do that for me. No. Not him. Then who? I am out of town today. Starting tomorrow I will have an accountability partner.

Maybe someone to talk to while I am on the treadmill. 3 days a week hasn't seemed to work. It may need to be everyday to form a habit. A perfect couple things to decompress - walking and talking.

Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — How can you show up for yourself like you would for your best friend?

I can show up for friends: When my friends husband died, I decided to check in with her at least weekly to see how she was. I invited her to come with me to different functions she may be interested in. I looked forward to going to see her. I call her my sister.

Other best friends I have, I encourage laughter and tears. My best friends are people I laugh with. The tears are for when we are grieving.

It is important for me to encourage myself to laugh and cry whenever needed. Daily if necessary. Giving myself permission and having a person to cry with is the best kind of crying. The most healing.

Encouraging me to go to what I consider fun things to do with or without the husband is important to. Plan ahead and put them on my calendar. Invite others.

Having a check in with myself at least weekly makes sense. These self love, balance and gratitude prompts help me to do just that.

Rupi Kaur’s Self-Love Writing Prompts — How do you like to be supported?

Getting support:

Enjoying when others will check in with me about how I am doing. When others are supportive of me in all that I do. I especially enjoy being invited to family and friend events, even when I can't attend. It has to do with being thought of.

Then when my husband will pitch in when getting ready for company. That used to be my favorite time to do a little extra with the house - for company. Now I just do the basics and it helps if he pitches in as he knows that will put a smile on my face!

Never read Rupi Kaur. Self love is kind of hard when so many make demands...still finding time for it is critical. Great advice. Congrats on TS.
