Stories have shaped my world— I have been passionate about storytelling my whole life. Growing up in one of the most remote regions of India, storytelling wasn’t just entertainment; it was a bridge to history, a way to preserve who we are.
English is my second language, and alongside it, I speak two dialects and Hindi—all vastly different. So, writing in English has its challenges, but the tales I have are too rich to be left untold. These stories are deeply rooted in my culture and I believe they deserve to be shared, that is the source of my determination to bring them to a wider audience.
As you may know, I’m fairly new to Vocal Media, and while I know it offers opportunities for writers, my goal here isn’t monetary. As a matter of fact, I don’t even have access to Stripe, as it says it doesn’t support India currently. But that doesn’t matter. I write because I love it—because I want to share the joy I felt when I first heard these lore, imagining what life must have been like in those stories. And I want to share that feeling with everyone.
Beyond writing, I find immense inspiration in the works of others on this platform. Lately Ive been binging on stories and creations that leave me in awe. Every story I read, every poem I come across, is a remarkable lesson—a glimpse into different worlds, emotions, and perspectives. Whether you know it or not, many of you have been mentors to me, shaping the way I see storytelling. For that, I am truly grateful.
I look forward to sharing more of my stories here and learning from this incredible community. If you love folklore, cultural tales, or storytelling, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s keep the joy of storytelling alive—together.
