A Little Powder

A destructive bond

By Mishael RobinsonPublished about a year ago 1 min read

It started as a harmless curiosity. You'd heard of it but you were always wary, understandable, it's potent but then pain came along and you needed to dull him. The first time you took it you couldn't believe that such pleasure exists, that ecstasy was just within your reach. It felt like you were floating, like everything was gone, even pain and you were just you.

It was supposed to be a one-time thing; you weren't supposed to go back but like others before you, the pull was strong. You resisted for a while but pain came back again and you needed him to go away. The second time was better than the first, the feeling intensified by your newfound knowledge. 'Just until pain is gone' you tell yourself but deep inside you know it's a lie.

Every day you felt better and better, every day you could escape into this world where no one could reach you but every day it took something from you, every day it chipped at your soul. Everyone noticed what a shell you'd become but you couldn't stop it. It had dug its claws into you and refused to let you go. It laughed when you begged it to let you go, it told you there was no way out. You tried to fight its hold, you tried to fight its pull but you couldn't... there was no escape as darkness took you under.

About the Creator

Mishael Robinson

I love writing. It's an escape for me, a place where I can lose myself. This is a page where I write about life, relatable stuff but in the most wonderful way possible. I really hope you enjoy them.
