3 Tips For Getting Started As A Writer
Number 3 is a must!
So you want to write but you're not quite sure where to start?
Well, getting started as a writer is just as simple as 1–2–3, but if you're having difficulty getting started, I have three tips that will set you off on your writing journey as easily as possible.
Write What You Want To Read
Want to write but you're not quite sure what to write?
Well, the sample solution to this is to ask yourself what you like to read.
What genre aisle do you find yourself most often wandering down when you make your way to the book store or even what types of shows do you like to watch?
Finding out what you like to consume can help you figure out what it is that you might like to produce.
This goes for both fiction and nonfiction.
Don't force yourself into writing anything just because it's currently popular or trending, chasing these fads may leave you with a book that isn't genuine and won't be a true showcasing of your writing talent because your heart isn't in it.
Share Your Work
Writing can sometimes be a solitary endeavor, but it doesn't have to be.
Sure it can be intimidating when you first start to share your work in fear of the remarks or the judgment, but sharing work is an integral part of being a writer.
You can share your work with family, close friends, critique groups, or even just random spaces on the internet with a pen name so far from your identity that those you are hoping never find it won't figure out it's you even if they do happen to stumble across it.
Write
Don't go clicking away, yes I know this one should be the obvious one, but it's also the most overlooked.
Writers spend more time thinking about writing than they spend writing and it's given us a bad name in some circles.
There's no waiting for the right time to start writing your story, there's no special fairy that's going to come down or a bright light coming from the sky that's going to tell you that it's time to write.
You just have to do it.
Put pen to paper or fingers on your keyboard and just start.
It's not going to be perfect, it might honestly be one of the worst things that you've ever read or written in your life - but that's ok - it's kind of the whole point. That first draft will eventually become a polished story with a bit of work, but you've gotten the most challenging part of it completed.
Now go get to writing.
With love,
B- King xo xo

Yes, these are good tips, but I read anything I can get my hands on. I studied education, nursing and counseling and through writing I share what I learned.
Yes, yes yes! Great tips! 💙
You've nailed it! And you have also made it clear why I have stopped giving out advice about how to write. Most of the people I speak to seem to think there is some magic potion I imbibe that allow my imagination to flow. It is much more basic and duller than that (one word at a time; one day at a time). Thank you for this. ;)
