While there is no magic fix that can write your novel for you, there are many habits you can incorporate into your daily life that are quiet, yet powerful and can assist you in making steady progress toward your goal. Almost as if the book were writing itself.

Adding these habits to your routine will take most of the stress out of writing and make the process more enjoyable.

Establish a Daily Writing Routine

No, you don't have to sit at your desk from sun up till sun down typing away at your manuscript day in and day out.

Spending even thirty minutes daily on your book can help keep your novel progressing.

Even if you only have ten minutes you can set aside each day to add a few lines, your novel will be moving closer to being completed than if you never touched it all.

If you haven't tried setting a writing routine before, don't stress.

It's one of the easiest things you can do. Set a specific time throughout the day when you can consistently write, or better yet attach it to other habits such as before bed or while eating lunch.

Read

It's amazing what reading can do for your skills as a writer and if often one of the most overlooked ways to help a writer improve.

Adding the habit of reading into your life will not only help you stretch your literary muscles almost without trying, but you'll see improvements in your writing happening naturally.

Keep A Writing Journal

Have you ever been lying in bed when suddenly you have an amazing idea for a novel? You decide not to write down anything about it, swearing to yourself that you'll remember it come morning but as the sun comes up the idea floats away out the window with the rays of the sun.

Don't let this happen to you.

A writer's journal is a key element to keeping your thoughts safely in one place as well as being a place for self-reflection and for tracking your progress.

And if you combine these three habits?

Writing your novel will be easier than before.

Best,
