A Beast Unleashed In The Indian Automobile Industry
On march 10th BMW launched the "Fastest car to be made in India". It was none other than the BMW M340i xDrive, it is the first ever M performance car to be introduced to the Indian automobile industry. The engine is a Twin Power Turbo 6-cylinder unit which provides up to a ridiculous 387 bhp. Due to it's assembly in India, it is priced aggressively at 63.90 lakhs ex-showroom. This variant of the 3 series line up competes with Mercedes C43 amg and Audi S5. The acceleration time of 0-100 kph is 4.4 seconds and this car revs freely till 7000 rpm with a perfectly tuned 8-speed M Sport transmission.
Interior: Sporty or Luxurious?
The all new M340i has achieved balance between luxury and sportiness. The interior is themed all black with the seats wrapped in a Alcantara-sensatec leather upholstery along with blue stitching across the car. The ambient lighting is available in 6 different colors along with aluminum trim on the dashboard.

The rear seats are on the lower side, the under thigh support is decent with adequate headroom as well as kneeroom. The back seats are practical for passengers up to 6ft. However, only 2 passengers are recommended to sit in the rear due to the large hump present in the middle, 4 full grown adults can sit in comfortably. The overall build quality of the interior is top-notch and the materials used are that of the highest order.
Exterior: Regular 3 series or different?
The BMW M340i has the same dimensions as the regular 3 series. The grill of the m340i is different than normal BMW kidney grill, M badging is present on the fenders, on the wheels as well as the rear. The car has a muscular stance and is available in 3 different colors. The colors in which the M340i is available are "Dravit Grey", "Sunset Orange" and " Tanzanite Blue".

The wheels on the M340i are 18-inchers, however 19" are available as optional. Dimensions of the car are 4,712 mm L x 1,827 mm W x 1,435-1,440 mm H. The car has a strong road presence with 110mm of ground clearance. The overall look of the car is subtle but appealing.
Drive: Fun only at high speeds?
The BMW M340i is a car that revs fast and freely all the way up to 7000 rpm, after all it's the fastest car to be made in India. But is it any good when driving in the city at low speeds? Yes, it sure is. The M340i comes with 4 drive modes - Sport, Sport Plus, Comfort, Eco Pro. Comfort is the mode in which you would spending most of your time and the one for city driving. This mode gives you the mileage you need with a good amount of thrill, the car becomes a regular luxurious 3 series and let's you enjoy a pleasant ride. Although the car has been stiffened up than the regular 3 series, the ride quality is not compromised at low speeds. Eco Pro mode is the one that solely focuses on mileage. Sport and Sport Plus mode is the one for all those enthusiasts out there, this car turns into a literal beast in these modes. This car has the capability to shame most of the cars present on the road. In these modes people realize that this is not just a regular 3, it's something much more wilder.

Verdict: Will I regret buying it?
The other cars that are included around the same price range are the Mercedes e-class, BMW 530d and BMW 630i. These cars are surely more luxurious than the m340i but they lack the thrill, the ability to send adrenaline coursing through your entire body.
Imagine you have spent a great deal of money and have purchased the 530d. One fine day, you're driving it down the road and you see a M340i in your rear view. Sooner or later, the M340i may, if it so desires, surge ahead leaving you behind in instant regret.
On the other hand, imagine that you've purchased the M340i and you see a 530d in front of you. Even though you may not be able to floor your car ( Laws Exist). You can still bask in your own self satisfaction if given the opportunity, you have the ability to unleash hell. That day you will have no regret and you will go home to sleep a happy man.
M340i is the balance between sportiness and luxury, it will put a massive smile on your face whenever you floor it. It is good for track days as well as everyday drives. It is much more affordable and livable option than the full fat M3 which is a whole other story. This car should be on the top of your list if you prioritize performance over anything else, this car is worth the money and you would not regret buying it.
