Tips for Your Car Window Tint

You finally got your car window tinted? Congratulations, as you are on the right path to protect yourself and your car from the harmful UV rays, deadly sunlight, and save more fuel. This is not the end of the task, but just the beginning, because if you want your tinted windows to work for a longer time and without showing early signs of fadeness and other issues, then you must take care of it like you would take care of your car.

We are sharing some of the maintenance tips for your window tinting that will make them last longer and keep the common problems at bay.

Give Proper Cure Time

Just after the installation of the tint, give a couple of days for its cure, and don’t expect the result right away. Cleaning them is a big no after a week of their installation because this is the most common time when they will develop bubbles and can start peeling off. Avoid rolling down your windows for 3 to 5 days to ensure they stick properly and don’t interfere with the settling process.

Use Gentle Cleaning Products

Cleaning your tinted windows regularly is a good practice, but always pick products that are not ammonia-based. For cleaning cars, ammonia is used frequently, but the same product can turn out to be a disaster for the tinted windows, as they can result in discolouration and early degradation. To clean the tints, you actually require minimal products like a small amount of dish soap and water, and gently rubbing the tint windows, and it will be enough.

Avoid Keeping Objects Near Windows

After you have gotten your car windows tinted, you must be mindful of what you keep near the windows. Avoid keeping any harsh objects like keys, garage tools, and other such objects near it, as they might end up tearing or damaging the tint, leading to the replacement. Any object, even the tiniest one that has the power of scratching the tints, should be kept at a distance. Also, limit touching the windows as much as possible.

Regular Inspection

Always check for any scratches, bubbles, fadeness, and peeling of the tint in case there are any. To clear one thing that a small scratch doesn’t mean that you will have to replace and change the entire tint because they are very much fixable. If you notice any damage, contact the professional care immediately, and they will fix the issue before further damages.

Different Tints Have Different Maintenance Requirements

While a few maintenance tips act universally for each type of tint, they all have diverse requirement as well. If you have a dyed tint, then you will be advised to park the car mostly in the shaded areas to avoid early fading. For metallic tint, you will be asked to focus on the electronics being used inside the car like the radio and GPS signal. You will have to understand the needs of the tint you have installed and maintain it as per the requirements.

A car window tint is a great measure towards your car’s health as well as for the environment because it helps in saving more fuel and is an energy-efficient practise. However, it is equally important that you take care of them if your intention is to make them last longer.
