I Bought A 1500 Dodge Ram Diesel Pickup.

How was I supposed to know I needed running boards?

It is a beauty! A cranberry-maroon, shiny pickup truck! It does stand out in a crowd. I have never owned a diesel before. The fuel is more than the price of gas. However, in the book, it says I will get more miles on the fuel than my Dodge Journey did. After the initial great feelings, the problem set in.

First, it was my shoulder and chest pains. I thought I would avoid the truck until getting running boards. I couldn't do it, so next I got a sore back and legs. Again, from getting in and out of the truck without running boards.

I am still so grateful for the truck. Even with all that I have endured. My future daughter-in-law sold it to me for a family discount. Her father died and left a vehicle with few miles and well preserved. Wisconsin doesn't salt its roads, so there is no rust! Minnesota has rusty vehicles all over the state.

My vehicle that was just one year older had 247,000 miles on it, and the start of rust. This one had 55,000 miles. I can really put on the miles. I hesitated and had to really think about buying it with how expensive diesel fuel is.

My grandson needed a vehicle and is pleased with my old vehicle for now and he too got a family discount. With the help of his parents, he paid cash for my old vehicle.

My son-in-law, who owned a mechanics shop until I bought this truck, did work on my back breaks. He also used his scan tool to check for any major problems, and there were none.

My husband is putting in the running boards, he had changed the oil and filter, and he is putting in a new fuel filter when he gets the wrench that we ordered. He already has the fuel filter. He really is interested and the pickup may become his as he is scrapping out his pickup.

The junk man is coming tomorrow to see what he can salvage. Hubby thinks someone would get a very good deal for a thousand dollars as he has taken such good care of his old Chevy pickup. We will see tomorrow.

Hubby wants to order mud flaps, as after washing the truck it immediately gets mud splashes up the side. It doesn't matter that it is only at certain times of the year that we have mud splashes. Oh well. I think he is already taking ownership of the truck.

Hubby hollers, "The truck is high maintenance!" I said, "It is a good thing you don't have anything else to do!!" He responds by putting his cold hands up my shirt!

I am grateful for a partner that knows about vehicles and when he doesn't know he has the interest to look in the vehicles book, in google, or on Youtube.

My pickup truck looks like the one above except it has that pretty cranberry-maroon color, silver wheels, and a sunroof. The inside is all leather, with the all-wheel, 2-wheel, and 4-wheel drive.

The pickup has a backup camera, heated and cooling seats, and steering wheel, along with an automatic start. I feel spoiled with all of the features and I am hopeful it will last for at least 5 years.

There is also something that brings it down a couple of inches. I really should try that as I may not need running boards! Might be too late as they are due here today. Hubby has plans to put them on the truck.

I thought at first maybe I had a low-rider vehicle but Hubby laughed and said, "It won't work like that and it won't come down as far as the running boards we ordered." Hoping this helps.

A friend said, I need to work my muscles back up so the pain doesn't get me again. I guess that means going back to exercise! That thought is enough to spoil my excitement about my beautiful pickup.
