Need a movie that isn’t the cliche Fast and Furious, Transformers, or Cars movie? Here are some great ones that aren’t cliche and will give you a rush!

Ford v Ferrari

This movie was amazing. It’s a true story about how Ford is trying to join the race at the 24 hours of the Le Mans in France to beat the Ferrari team in 1966. It follows mainly two people, Carroll Shelby (Shelby, like the car) and Ken Miles, a British engineer. Hired by Ford and using unorthodox methods Miles and Shelby create a car to compete with the sports cars in France. Do they have the right car that can win this race and do the racers have the stamina to keep going?

Rush

Formula 1 racing is a drug to two racers, English playboy James Hunt and Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda. In this movie we watch as the two racers are pushed to the breaking point just because they want to push themselves in their racing and to racing each other. Everyone else, especially their loved ones, now have to watch them risk their lives as they race for the thrill.

The Italian Job

A heist movie, where a crew member turns on the rest involves death, revenge, and a bunch of mini coopers. Taking place in Italy (Hence the title) a group of criminals are running a job when one of the members turns on them, killing one of the companions and taking the loot for himself. The rest of the team assembles together to get revenge with the help of the daughter of the fallen friend. Will they succeed and get the gold they tried so hard to get?

Transporter

These movies make me want to go on a crazy drive with Jason Statham and not wear my seatbelt! But the film is a trilogy starring Jason Statham who is a “transporter” aka a professional driver who chauffeurs people around. His clients get him caught up in crazy situations where he has to fight and drive his way out. And he can definitely do so.

Christine

A killer car. That’s all I’m going to say. Just kidding, but not really. It’s an older, kind of slower film, but one that my dad made us watch. It pretty much is about a killer car. You’ll just have to watch and find out why and who it’s trying to kill.

Gone in 60 Seconds

In order to save his brothers life, a car thief has to steal 50 valuable cars. Known as the most successful car thief in California in his prime, he now has to gather his old crew back together to appease the dangerous crime lord his brother has gotten involved with. Starring Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie, we are thrust into a world where stealing cars is a dangerous business and the cops won’t rest until they find you!

Duel

This is a movie my dad made me watch! I grew up a car guy as a dad and therefore my brothers turned into car guys. So we watched a lot of car movies. Essentially the red car is being followed incessantly by the truck behind him. We watch as paranoia sets in and how he tries to get away from the crazy truck driver. It’s kind of a boring show, but it’s interesting! Ha!

American Graffiti

Another older car movie that my dad made us watch when we were kids. This one is definitely better than Duel though I have to say. The show is a coming of story about teens who are about to step into the adult world. They have one last night to make some memories as the young souls they are until they have to leave their youth behind. Cars are stilled involved, but the plot is more interesting than that!

Baby Driver

Baby Driver is about a driver named Baby. Original. He is an orphan who has acquired the taste for awesome music and fast driving. He works for a mastermind crook named Doc who assembles random teams to do jobs for him with Baby as his getaway driver. Baby doesn’t want to keep driving like this for the rest of his life, but Doc and his crew have other plans. The beautiful waitress Baby has been fawning over may have to wait for a future together.

Talladega Nights

Honestly, this was is a stretch, but this movie makes me laugh and it has to do with racing so why not? It’s about Ricky Bobby who started to win big in NASCAR and now he is famous for always winning and his friend always coming in second. Now a gay Frenchman is coming to shake things up and gets Ricky all out of sorts. He takes time off from racing and his wife leaves him and he essentially has to start over. We watch as he hilariously comes to realize he loves racing and how he comes to back to be great!

Honorable Mentions: Dukes of Hazard, Cars, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
